Owner description: Tanah Lot is one of the important directional temples in Bali. The temple is located on a rock just offshore. It is said to be the work of revered 15th century Hindu priest Nirartha and forms an important element of Balinese spirtualism and mythology.

The important area in Bali you must visit as you can see how Balinese traditional here.

The temple in the middle of sea with sharp curving and beautiful garden surrounding.

Fantastic!

Our driver took us to this site on the way to northern Bali. I had expected a much larger temple. We visited in late morning, with the full sun bearing down on its black rock and the rocks alongside the temple. It was dramatic, but not as I had expected.

The stalls preceding the attraction were numerous and long. I saw one booth at which a very large snake was on display. But we didn't see any of the fabled snakes around the monument.

I wish our first visit to this site would have been at sunset. My piece of good advice is to visit this spot at sunset. It must be beautiful.

Tanah Lot site is actually a complex of several temples located on the coast of the Bali Sea. All of them are within the walking distance of half an hour max. Tanah Lot is the best known, but at least one more (unfortunately I forgot the name) is as beautiful as the main one.

The only problem is crowds of people, but this is the way it is in such a popular places.

Temple is located in sea so avoid going while tides. View of sunset is amazing ,sun rays making temple glow. But the place is very crowded and can get tough to find a place to sit or even stand in peace to enjoy its beauty.

It was hot, lots of people, and not much to actually see, given that the temple is closed and you can only get to in at low tide. But interesting all the same if you have a guide that can explain the significance of the temple.
