“Reliability is their second name”

When on a pilgrimage trip , my choice of accommodation would generally swing towards a hotel offering proximity to the temple , cleanliness & reliability over amenities, comfort & cuisine . If you agree with me on this , opt for New Tirupur Lodge when in Palani.

The place is great value for money and has the advantage of excellent support staff who are ready to help you round the clock . The place is relatively clean given the churn of devotees and run a 24 check out format . Their restaurant Nalapakkam has a decent choice of south indian dishes and the food is definitely worth the money you pay .

The only drawback is you are surrounded by touts who claim to have an insider who can get you into the temple and out in a flash . Dont fall for them ! . My suggestion is that you either walk up the hills or take a winch and opt for the 100 rupee ticket at the main counter . This makes your trip less cumbersome and you can cut through some traffic

We checked in during evening, the day before temple visit. The moment we got our keys, a tout (vearing veshti and pattai on forehead) followed us to our rooms. Without even giving us time to settle down, he started asking us for list of items we needed for temple visit. He charged attrocious rates for pooja items. We told him we'll buy packet milk nearby for paal abishekam as we can't carry paal kudam all the way to the hill top by walk. Also we have been told that paal kudam milk will be very diluted. He tried very hard to convince us by telling all kind of lies about shops being closed, non-availability of milk, etc.. We were very firm and sent him away.

The airconditioning systems were all very old, atleast in the 3 rooms we booked. In the room I stayed, the A/C stopped working during midnight and we had to call housekeeping to sort it out. The repair person was very rude and took a lot of time to fix the problem.

When we complained to the person at reception next day, he didn't even bother to pay attention and was looking elsewhere when I talked.

This hotel is highly overrated IMO.

Location of the hotel is ideal. Rooms are decently furnished although slightly on the smaller side. Bathroom and wash areas all look very good. Ample parking spaces available. We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms where we could park the car right in front of our room. On site restaurant 'Nalapakam' offers enough choices to suit every 'indian' palate. Vegetarian only menu will suit most pilgrims.

Overall - would recommend it without hesitation.

We visit this temple every year and always Stay at New Tirupur Lodge. Ask for Mr.Mani( Meesai Mani ) and he will more than willing to help us. The Lodge has improved by leaps and bounds . The Cottages adjacent to car park are excellent and the best part is you can park your car in front of your cottage. I was astonished to come back and see that the car has been washed by the Hotel person free of cost and I had to call that person and pay him some amount as good gesture.
The tiffin quality was good and a nice place to have tiffins and some variety rices also. A good stay which is very clean. There are a few 3 BR and 4 BR available which will be very economical whilst going in a Big group

Room Tip: Go for the cottages adjacent to the Car Park

The facility seems to be renovated recently. We stayed in a 4-bed room which was spacious. The facility was maintained neat and clean including the bedding and the sheets. About 1km from the hill. Ample space for car parking inside the premises. Restaurant service was poor but room service was great.

Not the cheapest option but the facility is good for the price. We just stayed for one night so didn't find much to complain. Would recommend.

Very recently visited Palani with my family (including my parents) couple of weeks ago. Must way it was a very smooth trip indeed....a big thanks to the comfortable stay at Tirupur Lodge. Situated very close to the bus stand on the base of the Palani hill...the location is perfect....although one must say Palani is a very small town and you can reach from one end to another by a brisk walk of 30 mins !
I took the 4 Bed A/C Family suite....quite a nice room...2 double beds....a nice dining area inside the room with a Dining table.a TV with all the major cable TV channels...a great balcony with the view of the temple atop the hill. The A/C dripped water after sometime....but its not a major pain.....
The bell boy was a great help....he organized the barber for the tonsure of my daughter ...this was done right inside the hotel...so its very comfortable...typical of every temple town in Tamilnadu...things start rather early....coffee was served in the room at 5:30 AM !..

We hired a local guide organized again through the bell boy....with the benefit of hindsight..I now feel that this was probably unnecessary....we could have simply taken the cable car up the hill to the temple and had a darshan by ourselves......there is a bit of a hand-in-glove operation between these guides ( or should I say touts) and the temple guards.....so there will be a hit on the pocket when you employ them.....but you do get smooth and personal access to the sanctum sanctorum.......which may not have been as smooth otherwise....even though it was off season time.

Had breakfast at Nalapakam restaurant which is on the ground floor of the hotel....nothing great to write about the food here......pretty ordinary stuff....just good enough to fill a few hungry mouths....no gourmet stuff here....

Overall it was good satisfactory pilgrimage trip...

This hotel is decent to stay & food is good. It has ample car parking area & car wash service is also available at a reasonable cost. The approach to this hotel is very near the bus stand. Lift service is there.
