“A good place to stay while in Palani”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

I prefer to stay in this lodge during my visit to Palani. Rooms are spacious and well cleaned. Hospitality needs to improve. There is huge difference in fare between A/C and Non A/C rooms. The restaurant serves tasty food.

Visited Palani with family(11 of us) in Jan 2013. We had taken 2 family deluxe suites. We had not booked the rooms in advance, but were still accomodated and we were quite happy about it as it was thai poosam time and crowd was huge. The rooms were big enough with bathrooms and changing rooms that were big as well!! The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The hotel is a 5 to 10 mins walk from the temple and also arranges for darshan and special pooja on request.. The hotel also has a restaurant Nalapaka. The food there tastes good. But not a very well and cleanly maintained place. All in all a peaceful piligrimage and would want to go back to the hotel.

I first stayed here years back and it was really nice. i went there last week and the standards have really dropped but still for a religious destination this is standard. small room and bathrooms even though we took the deluxe. Caution : Please book rooms in advance if your travelling at night since there are a lot of touts outside.

The rooms and toilets need drastic improvement .
Cleanliness is very minimum .
The food is an added advantage in this hotel .
We stayed in the deluxe room on the 2 nd floor .
Very near to the temple . Try to carry your own linen and towels .

we stayed with family in this lodge on a pilgrimage visit and worship of LORD MURUGA. The hotel rooms are clean and neat. You cant get better stay than this on a budget price tag. Ample car parking and its walkable distance and inbetween bus station and palani hills. Can see the name board from bus station. Only vegetarian food is available here but maintain good quality. Better experience travelling in horse chariot where u cant find anywhere in INDIA. As the locationn was surrounded by mountains very nice location and pure breeze in early morning hours. Kodaikanal is very near from this place. Finally budget hotel at a affordable price..

On a pilgrim city, a decent hotel with clean rooms and good sleep, ample car parking & sleeping facility for drivers, decent restaurant & pan shop. no much personal attention ( we cant expect too) as this is toooo crowded.

Room Tip: take the rooms on right side (19,20) etc.,

A pilgrimage to the Palani temple gave us the opportunity to spend a day here. The AC bed room with its attached toilet was ordinary with space constraints. The AC was noisy. The bed and the pillows were hard. Linens were dirty. The bath room was old-fashioned without modern amenities. The TV had a local cable connection. Housekeeping did not respond to our needs. The smell from the common bath and toilets was carried over in the breeze. Room service was poor with dishes served in open containers. The attached restaurant had an AC room and a non-AC room. The AC room was smelly and we took our food in the non-AC restaurant. The spread was vegetarian. The dishes were of low quality and the north-Indian spreads such as rotis and dhals were best to be forgotten. The coconut chutney and sambar were of the lowest quality. The bearers wore stained clothes and were smelling of sweat. Food was served in banana leaves by the bearer with his exposed hands without any spoons or a glove. As the hotel had a function hall, there was a disturbance. And do not allow the housekeeping to enter the room in your absence. As the place had lots of tourists around do not keep any cash/valuable around. Check-in and check-out was 24 hours. The hotel does not accept credit or debit cards. So do not forget to carry cash as they accept only cash.
