“Excellent location, average property”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

The property is set against a portion of the beautiful River Kali. The view of the river, nature activities + the water sports facilities that the property arranges for/provides are reasons to stay at the Bison River Resort -- but if you're looking for a luxury stay at the same time then this isn't the best choice.

The property itself is not very impressive. The rooms are quite run-down, and the bathrooms definitely need a do-over. The service is not much to write home about either, as there was no outward effort made to welcome guests or to check if the stay was comfortable at any point. The food was slightly more than palatable. There was a barbecue on the night that we stayed and the non-veg and beg starters were delicious, but the rest was quite average.

The resort arranges for activities like treks, wildlife safaris, boating, kayaking and white-water rafting (be sure to check if your trip aligns with the season). A nice attraction is the 'natural jacuzzi' that one can take a dip in, but it's not for the faint-hearted. The rocks are slippery and steep, and the force of the water is more than strong, but it's definitely worth a visit. The diversity of wildlife that once can see right from the resort is another plus point.

If you decide to stay here, try and choose one of the rooms that face the river. It's a pleasure to hear the sound of the roaring river all through the day and night. I only wish the property was better maintained and managed more professionally, so that the entire experience could be more enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is closest to the water. Room 34 opens directly to a view of the River Kali, so...

It was our second wedding anniversary and in the grueling heat of Goa, a 2-day break to the jungles seemed like a nice idea. My cousin had previously stayed at Bison and he suggested I try this place. I read the reviews and was a little skeptical initially but decided to go ahead and book a room over the phone. Once we drove there, we found the place idyllic, with large functional rooms and great homely food. The staff are ever so helpful and don't mind running errands with a smile on their faces. The rooms have a nice sit-out and we stayed up late finishing some wine with no more than a starry sky and a view of the moon-washed river for company. The hotel staff also managed a cake which was horrible but the gesture was sweet enough. The resort offers various rafting, trekking, jacuzzi etc options but I would suggest you go for the no-frills packages. Once there, choose what you really want to do and go ahead and book it. I would want to go back to this place in the monsoons!

We had been to this resort with my bunch of college friends. The resort is special because it is located on the awesome place near the bison river. As the name suggests, Bison river is an awesome river with water flowing like an angry bison. We crossed the river using a boat and had a small waterfall where we enjoyed.

The resort is a normal one with facilities like TT, Snooker.

I have been with my family,,,, the front office staff are just ill mannered, the restaurant is full of cats and dogs, the restaurant staff are not bothered to serve they remove their food from the buffey and hide in the back room for their self, and tell the guest the food is over and you have to manage in it.the water is drown directly from the river there is no filtration plant.the kitchen is a garbage dumb place, live chicken are cut there only without proper juba in Muslim culture.the staff are so filthy and dirty that they ask for the tips directly. The manager is a model who roams in the resort as if its a ramp walk.

Room Tip: rooms are good but service is pathetic

We (my, wife and 2 kids) went for entire Karnataka tour by car. I was driving myself. We reached Dandeli later night and somehow managed to get in. The forest check-post is open only from 06 AM to 06 PM. Dandeli is the place where we begun our journey and I must say that the place Dandeli is awesome. Huge jungle, excellent experience of bird-watching, Dandeli-Anshi tiger reserve, river crossing and top of everything was the white water rafting experience which was surely out of the world. Although we are disappointed not to see the tiger but overall experience of staying in jungle was just a memorable one. The resort is nice, clean and well managed. The quality and options for food items is good and the people are nice and courteous. The room does not have TV and we were happy for this. You can't expect to watch TV when you are surrounded by abundant nature beauty.

The location of the resort is very good as its located on the best rapid if rafting.

The rooms are nicely located and the bathrooms clean .

The room service is poor as they do not have a full time kitchen .food is always a buffet with no al la carte tastes good but variety could be more.

Activities are verygood expecially the rafting and the jungle safari walk in the woods are good

Don't forget a dslr
