“One temple which is not crowded”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

After a long time I felt this is one Hindu temple which is worth visiting. The temple trust offers free services for keeping your shoes, wallet, etc. Apart from your small walltet nothing is allowed to be carried inside the temple. No pandits/pujaris pursuade you to perform puja or give offerings. you can peacefully visit the temple at your own pace, nobody pushes you around. The arabian sea is right behind the temple and somnath beach is also visible at a distance. worth visiting atleast once.

“New Somnath Temple”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

one of the few temples of Lord Shiva where we see lot of gold at the background of the lingam and also at the tip of the temple top a gold laden trishul. only small purses are allowed inside the temple therefore you need to handover your baggage in the locker room also if the backpack carries more weight then they do not accept it in the locker room as a result i had to wait outside while my better half went inside the temple for darshan. finally i called my gujarat tourism guide to take care of my baggage and went inside to the temple. its a huge temple with. a sprawling garden and a spectacular view of beach on one side

“Somnath-diu-gir-junagad”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

hi i had a great help in planning my somnath-diu trip by reading various posts in trip advisor, hence its my duty to share expiriences.

I reached veraval by train from ahmedabad, stayed in hotel satkar, its a budget hotel, but do not excpect luxuries, since it was a peak season it was the only option available.

I hired a taxi - indigo for two days, being 29th/30th dec dates the rates for everything was high. The taxi fellow charged rupees 5000 for two days, and this included complete sightseeing and travel to - somnath, diu, gir, junagad and return to veraval.

I would recommened the driver for future travellers, Though the cost was little higher being his season, he said nornally he would charge 3500-4200 for same route in off season. his name was sabir and he has permitted to put his num on web. his num his - 09723833056

we started from veraval at about 10:30 morning, went to somnath sight seeing.. we visited bhalka teerth - a place where krishna was attacked by arrow. laksmi narayan temple.. bhranma kumari mandir,, gomti ghat..

reached somnath temple by after 1.00. kept camera and belts in cloak rooms and joined the darshan que..
the best thing about this temple is we need not stand long ques.. we were able to do darshan in 1 hour.

the somnath darshan gives you peace of mind.. the vibrations of god are felt in the temple premises.. the ling is greenish grey in color and quite a huge..

from somnath we proceeded to Diu. We did local sight seeing in diu and reached nagoa beach before sunset. Diu is two hours drive from somnath. roads are average.

nagoa beach is good but my goa expirience makes me rate it low when compared to my earlier expiriences in sun, sand and sea.

nagoa beach had water sports but they are rated very high when compared to goa.. jetskying which ican be done at 250-300 in goa and murudeshwar is charged 800 bugs in diu.

driving to and from somanth and diu, driver stopeed in a highway dabha.. which offered tasty north indian food and at low price.

next day early mon=rning by 9 we strted to gir national park. its about an hour drive from veraval. we vacated our room and put our luggage in car and started to gir,

gir offers jeep safari and this place is known as sasan gir. it has to be pre booked online. onsite very few tics are available. it need 4-5 hours time.

bus safari is available from devaliya gir. they charge 115 INR.. i dont why so much money..
the bus was open Tempo travler type.. no cage nothing.. yu can only see deers, hyna, and two lions.. lions were gaurded by forest officers its no whre in comparision with banergatta national park assembly.

after diu safari and lunch at highway hotel we proceeded to junagad,

junagad is not must for general traveller but plays a important role for person who intends to have riligious flavor to trip.

reached somnath by 7:00 attended light and sound show and departed to dwarka..
