“Perfect for our needs...”
Reviewed September 16, 2009

It was a flying visit to this hotel, and it met all the criteria a 3* hotel should.
We stayed one night for an international cricket match at the Rose Bowl. Perfect if you didn't want a town hotel. It is out in the sticks, but the cab to the match was only £15.
Bedrooms looked like they had not long had a refit, so it all felt nice and clean. Flat screen TV, coffee making facilities, internet connection available but didnt check prices. Only negative about the room was the bathroom was a little smelly. Couldnt work out if it was drains or damp. It came and went.
The grounds of the hotel and the old manor house are beautiful (most, if not all of the rooms are adjacent to the old house, in a motel style arrangement) Our room was very close to reception, 007, and a short walk to breakfast, which was maybe a 4/5. Nice selection but could have been hotter (it is served as a buffet)
Pool and jacuzzi looked lovely but never got around to using them, we did however spend an hour or so sitiing in the grounds reading newspapers before we checked out. Very relaxing.
Would defineatly use this hotel again for an over nighter as was very reasonable at £84 per night including breakfast. Had a bit more soul than say a Premier Inn or Hoilday Inn.

We had our daughter’s wedding at New Place in August. After we had booked the venue, we read reviews on Trip Adviser and were very worried about the cleanliness of the rooms. I brought this to the notice of the wedding co-coordinator and operational manager. They assured me that they would ensure the rooms were fine. They did exactly that, and we had no complaints from our guests the standard of care was extremely good. Megan the wedding co-ordinator and Ed the Master of Ceremonies were fantastic. They organised everything without fuss, and it all went wonderfully. Madhu the Operational Manager was in evidence and checked everything was ok. The venue is an amazing house that was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and is beautiful; the grounds are wonderful for photos. The food was excellent and served hot! That I feel was quite an achievement when catering for 100 guests. All the staff were helpful and efficient but also unobtrusive. So thank you to all at New Place. I would strongly recommend it.

Stayed at the New Place for my hubbys school reunion this weekend. Nice enough place, we were in room 9 and found it to be a little on the dark side, although very nice. Initially the rooms are well decorated, however there are a few niggly things that stuck out. Such as the tile grout in the bathrooms being marked and stained, which made the bath area not feel as though it had been cleaned- which it had. The room overall was comfortable but very hot, we did not have air con and with the weather being warm was a little uncomfortable. The breakfast was great and the attitude of all staff was excellant.
The ground of the hotel are lovely and it is a nice base fort he southhampton area, Would use the hotel again - very pleasent stay

This is a nice hotel. Location is relaxing and remote and kind of in the middle of nowhere. THe rooms are small but nice. We were on the ground floor which was nice as you could easily pop in and out and it felf a little bit like a small chalet. We ate in the restaurant, the food was ok but not as good as expected. The bar area is nice. The swimmingpool area looked clean and nice though we didnt use it.
On the downside the walls, cielings were thin, you could hear the people upstairs taking a bath. The air con didnt seem to work though we were near the air con unit which made an awful lot of noise. Would reccomend it for value for money but food could've been better.

Decided to book a last minute night away with my partner,we booked directley through the De Vere website and payed £85 .Rooms are not amazingly spacious but just enough space and are well equiped and modern, the only one negetive was that we did have to get the cleaners in as the rooms had clearly not been dusted for a while but within 20 mins they had been and gone and done a great job.
Hotel restaurant was fantastic, excellent food and excellent service.Breakfast was buffet style and had the usual full english and fruit and cereal. The only one thing i wasnt keen on was the way the rooms are located it reminds me of some kind of american motel which is a shame as the hotel is situated in some beautiful grounds .Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would deffinatley book again.

We chose this hotel as a base to visit HMS Victory, Mary Rose etc, the New Forest and Beaulieu, and this proved to be ideal as the road system in the area makes travel to all these locations very straightforward. Also, we dislike hotels that are close to main roads and motorways, and again this lovely hotel was situated in the countryside and in its own, 32 acre grounds. It was, however very easy to find, thanks to plenty of Brown signposts from every direction. The room was very clean and nicely decorated, bathroom could have done with being a little larger, and the room was quite warm at night, but all in all it was fine. All the staff, from reception, to barman to restaurant staff were brilliant, and couldn't do too much for you in a very friendly way. The food was outstanding. If we could fault the facilities in any way, we felt that there was insufficient room in the bar to accommodate guests and we saw several people look in and turn away because there was nowhere to sit. What furniture there is was very large and comfortable, but perhaps took up too much space. Very popular wedding venue, and seemed to cater very well for large groups.

We stayed at New Place last weekend and we had such a relaxing break. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the accommodation was really modern and up to the standards of cleanliness you would expect from De Vere. Breakfast was really good with a great selection to choose from.
