“A perfect location to finish off the summer holidays - a great time had by all”
Reviewed September 5, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed as a family of four - two adults and our two sons, aged 10 and 11, for the last week of the school holidays and had a great week - so much so we didn't want to leave.

As the previous reviewer states, it is indeed on the very edge of a holiday park, the chalets being clearly seen from Google Earth (in two rows of a semi-circular pattern). On "arrival" at the Park, it is literally no more than 10 seconds at the most, drive through the Park to the location of the chalet This one is in a great position - looking over towards Cowes and Ryde on the Isle of Wight, and onwards down the Solent to Portsmouth - with uninterrupted views.

We stayed over the August Bank Holiday and whilst the Park is on hand should you want it (our boys tried out the pool a couple of times and were very happy), with a useful small shop for essentials, you can easily live life in the chalet (without the Park) and immerse yourselves in the view over Bramble Bank and try some ship spotting - it is an ever changing seascape.

Inside, the chalet is perfectly silent, extremely well appointed with everything a family would need, and with high quality furnishings - inside and out. Be warned, however, there may be a fight as to who gets the reclining single armchair as it is a prime slot for the view and relaxation! Wifi is available in the front - great when tracking the cruise ships that appear practically in the front garden - and BT Wifi hotspots are available throughout the property.

From the point of rental, communications with Pauline and Giles were great, with nothing being left to sort. Useful information was left along with a map of the area, which was actually a great education piece for the boys, and learnt something new about why the cruise ships have to "shimmy"out of port!

We could actually have spent the whole week not moving from the binoculars and front garden, but we did go out and explore. Days included crabbing at Hamble - a lovely little village across the river, where again you can just watch the yachts come and go; crabbing on the beach in front of the chalet; aquarium at Portsmouth; Naval Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth can take up hours and hours and hours - and for those not that indulging, then shopping in Gunwharf Quays is a perfect distraction. Winchester is only a short drive away and gives a mix of shopping and history with the cathedral. We were also lucky enough to be there for the yearly Bramble Bank Cricket match in the middle of the Solent - one for you to Google! With regards this, the neighbours also were very friendly and kind, asking if our boys were aware of it, and explaining what the tradition was all about.

All in all, a great week in a great location. It felt more like staying in a friend's holiday home, rather than a "rental". But looking at the reviews, make of it what you want - acknowledge and join in the Park (altbeit it did seem quiet) or drive through it, relax and watch the world go by - and learn lots of new things along the way. We were certainly not disappointed in any way at all, and indeed would relish the opportunity to go back again. The views are second to none and we will miss them immensely.

On a final point, just as we were about to leave, we had a flat battery in the car - and without hesitation we had three offers to help to push and get us underway! Such a friendly place to be.

Thanks to Pauline for her warm hospitality - and sorry we didn't get to meet up with Giles in person - but hopefully next time : )

We booked this place for a week and it cost us £1100. We are in our 50's, we know what we want. We THOUGHT we were getting a place surrounded by countryside overlooking the Solent.
This place is part of a static caravan holiday park and the owners managed to avoid mentioning that in their advertisement and in all the emails we exchanged. We usually holiday in the great outdoors, self catering in the Scottish Highlands for example, or travelling across India by train - it is the freedom of the wide open spaces that we cherish. To drive into a static caravan park at the end of an 8 hour journey just left me speechless. Please note THERE WAS NO MENTION AT ALL AT ANY POINT THAT THIS PLACE WAS IN A STATIC CARAVAN HOLIDAY PARK.
This property has had 3 name changes: Seamist, Solent Views and Solent Shores. It is actually known as none of these names; it is number 23 Solent Breezes Holiday Park. The owners only started referring to it as number 23 after we had paid in full and they emailed us directions. There are photos of it, none of which give a clue as to it's actual location.
The only positive thing I can say is that it is clean and comfortable and there is everything you need - unless 2 of you want a shower at the same time ( can't do this as water pressure will only feed one of the showers) or unless you want to use your iPad in the bedroom (can't do this as the wi-fi is only reliable in the lounge). It does indeed have views over the Solent and you can watch the yachts and ferrys.
I emailed the owners when we left early explaining all of the above. They replied but completely ignored my reason for leaving early - not a word of explaination, not one.
I absolutely believe they deliberately avoid giving any hint that the property is not as isolated as they try to suggest in the photos - if you look carefully you can see a couple of other buildings nearby but the reality is way different!! This is a chalet which is part of and within a static caravan holiday park and no more than that.

We were very surprised and disappointed by your review as on Day 2 you emailed to say “Thanks Pauline, everything is tip top” we always follow up and contact guests to make sure everything meets their expectations.
We were pleased you said in your review the property was clean, comfortable and had everything you could want provided.
Unfortunately you had three days of continuous rain and it appears this changed your perspective and you decided to leave and posted this review before the holiday letting had finished and we had had no opportunity to reply to your email.
We have a map on our listing accurately showing the location on the perimeters of the small holiday park behind us and our description says guests can use the facilities (for a small fee): heated swimming pool, tennis court and clubhouse, which many do. The booking form sent to all our guests has our address Solent Shores, 23 Solent Breezes Hook Lane Warsash.
Solent Shores is a freehold, brick built property with uninterrupted views across the Solent It has full gas CH with a modern condensing combi boiler which provides continuous hot water on demand.
We include BT Wifi and hadn’t realised it was weak in the back bedroom, we will look into sourcing a booster.
If you are looking to book our property and have any questions please email or call us. It is regrettable that this guest did not contact us to ask is the property isolated, as had we known, as said in the review, that was what they "wanted" and "thought" it was, we would have said no.It is in an area of beautiful countryside on the south coast with coastal walks and unrivalled sea views, and the access is via a small holiday park with mobile homes selling for upto £150,000. But it is not isolated and is not the Scottish Highlands or India.
Please take the time to read our other reviews.

“Peaceful, relaxing slow pace holiday”
Reviewed August 24, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I wanted holiday accommodation that could accommodate my husband and teenage son's needs as well as my own. This was a tall order but I can say that Solent Shores ticked everyone's needs.

I wanted an uninterrupted sea view, modern accommodation and to feel relaxed. However I also wanted to play bingo and have the opportunity of a little light exercise. My husband wanted the sea view, a TV with free view and a chance to read in a peaceful environment.
My son wanted WiFi and a model/Toy shop nearby and if there was a sea view plenty of boat action to see through binoculars.

Solent Shores is positioned overlooking the Solent with a brilliant view off Cowes. It was Cowes week so every yacht imaginable was out on the water jostling for space with the ocean liners and tankers going into and our of Southampton docks. The accommodation is within to the Solent Breezes Holiday Park which is very handy for the park shop, clubhouse and swimming pool. I managed to get out of the very comfortable water bed each morning and take part an Aqua aerobatics session. I also played bingo one evening in the clubhouse although this is quite expensive.

There is a Symths Toy Store nearby and the wifi although slow managed to cope with my sons various electronic equipment.

There is a large Tesco for food supplies so the two refrigerators (one for drinks and one for food) plus two freezers was just right. The kitchen is well equip, coffee maker, wine cooler, slow cooker etc.

If you find that you need to venture out the road to Solent Shores has 18 speed bumps although some are very small. My advice is take them slowly.

I would like to thank Pauline for her help it was an easy booking process and making us very welcome by letting us know if there was any concerns or needs to make our stay better they were on hand to assist.

We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at Solent Shores in this very clean and well designed property. Everything is just where you need it to be in the accommodation and is of a very high quality from toaster to hot - tub! The location is very convenient for exploring locally and we managed to pack in plenty of activities including a brewing experience in Portsmouth to yacht racing from Hamble and cycling in the New Forest. When we didn't have anything planned, just chilling out in the garden and watching the many vessels coming and going was a perfect way to switch off from 9-5 thoughts!
Pauline and Giles made sure we were feeling at home from the moment we arrived and we knew that we were able to get in touch if we had any questions throughout our week.
We would thoroughly recommend this holiday for anyone who wants to switch off from work, have plenty of options for things to do and feel as though you're staying in a well looked after property with the support of the owners if you need it.

“Fantastic Holiday Cottage”
Reviewed June 25, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We had a super week in Solent Breezes. The accommodation was superb! We had absolutely everything we could have asked for and more! Every item was top quality, from bedding to towels, crockery and furnishings. I came home with lots of ideas for our house and a photo of the gorgeous coffee table. The water bed was incredibly comfortable, we sleep in it on the 1st night and then Mum and Dad for the remainder of the week and Mum said it even stopped Dad snoring!!
The views were wonderful and we saw so many Cruisers coming and going, long boats and swimmers. The binoculars were really handy, we just spent lots of time looking out across the beautiful view but did also go to The New Forest, Mottisfont-the roses were the best we've ever seen. We also went on the pink ferry to Warsash. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone and hope to go back ourselves very soon!!
Pauline, Giles and family could not have been more helpful with their advise and attention to detail which was much appreciated.

Just arrived back from a weekend break to Solent Shores cottage, we had such a wonderful time and could not fault anything at all.... The cottage is fantastic, bigger than I expected. Beautifully decorated inside and complimented by the most amazing, unobstructed view of the Solent you could ever wish for. We had a wonderful warm welcome from the owner Pauline, and found that literally everything had been taken care of .......even the small touches like binoculars to take in the gorgeous view. Felt really spoilt.
Will definitely be returning.
