Review of Sollia Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 8, 2019via mobile
We came here and wanted to stay in the Gamme cabins at SnowHotel but they were fully booked ... and I’m glad they were! This place was super cool! We rented one of the Aurora cabins and were fortunate enough to see dancing northern lights both nights .... from bed. Even if we hadn’t though, sleeping under the stars would’ve been experience enough. Staff were friendly, excursions affordable, breakfast (included) was delightful. You can eat while overlooking the Russian border - which is just cool.

Great place to stay with a large common area and kitchen to use. Great rooms. I got here on a rainy cold day on a motorcycle and was very welcome. Super firendly. Extremely nice breakfast included in the room

Room tip: any room is good

We stayed in one of the cabins, and it was lovely. I wish we had arranged to take the Sollia shuttle from the airport to the hotel, as the drive by taxi was very expensive. However, we took the shuttle from the hotel to the Hurtigruten and that was great. Staff was lovely. Our only drawback was the cabin let a lot of light in through the windows when we were trying to sleep. I would still recommend staying here.

If you're looking for somewhere close to something to do, this was not it. We went on a walk, but ultimately there's not much around.

Excelent location for hard working meetings for a group up to 15 participants, quiet location, excelent food (breakfast in the accomodation facilities and dinners in nearby restorant), very frendly staff. Next to the only one land border (road) BCP with Russia. Accomodation in bungalows with two separated, double bad rooms and one bathroom.

This was a nice start to our Hurtigruten ferry/cruise down the coast. The room was small and basic..no frills. Breakfast was a delicious introduction to some Norwegian breakfast foods for a reasonable extra charge.
The taxi fare from the airport was 430 kroner..we had no clue it would cost so much. Monica was very kind and took us into the pier the next morning which was a real blessing. However, if we had it to do over, we would probably have booked a room in town since we were in our room less than 12 hours.
Having a car to drive to the guesthouse would be essential.

Thank you for taking time to write a review! ANd yes, we are situated outside Kirkenes city with the need of transportation. We try to communicate that to all that book at room at our resort. Hope you got to see the Northern Light at your Hurtigruten journey!
