We found Dahls Hotel one late afternoon last year and got there just after kitchen had closed. We were used to this hotel being a Scandic hotel and didn't feel sorry for the closed kitchen - Scandic has the same menu in all their hotels and we already knew it all too well.
But this was something else. The landlady asked if we would like some Wienerschnitzel and was prepared to make them herself. "Any good?" we asked. "Yes, of course". And they were really good. Made with veal and perfect in every way. Rooms are OK and cost also.
Last week, we tried Dahls again. We were much too late for dinner the first day. And the next day, there was a power outage thad had closed the kitchen down. Most other guests found other solutions, but as we were discussing alternatives, this Norwegian couple arrived. I told them about their bad luck - and ours. We could have had the best Wienerschnitzels north of Vienna, if it wasn't for the power outage.
Power had returned now and the landlord decided that four hungry guests deserved better than the Pizzeria next door and made us four very nice Wienerschnitzels. We had an Australian red wine (the landlord's recommendation) and he also made us some perfect Dry Martinis - which are hard to find these days.
So: service, food, drinks, wine, parking, total satisfaction results in four stars.
One little remark: the tables need to be cleaned with a strong agent. The Eco stuff they seem to be using now needs some extra effort to remove the fatty surface. Perhaps once a week or so. Otherwise, cleanliness is good.
