“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Returned from MouraGolf Village yesterday. On arrival we were allocated Delux Villa 6a this was a lovely villa due to the sound proofing in villas neighbours and television can be clearly heard.
Throughout the weekend we had a lot of flying bugs by the Monday they were everywhere we were moved to another villa 2a not a good move near main entrance so traffic noise as well as neighbours.
Sofas were saggy and uncomfortable, the hand held shower had no power there was another shower in the shower room but it resembled the one at the pool and i could not regulate it,
Facilities on site outdoor pool
Villas cleaned every third day this did not include kitchen I must say maids worked hard and villas were spotless.
Villmoura was about 30 minute walk away, there was a supermarket 10 minutes away and complex with another supermarket 2 restaurants 2 bars i with entertainment and Parkys cafe
Bus stop outside villa cost to Vilamoura 2euros 20 cents taxi around 5 euros
We fell in love with Vilamoura and will return in March all being well but not to this complex.
We also experienced the day without water unfortunately I had a jippy stomach on that day lady on reception was not intrested a little courtesey or empathy would have been appreciated.
I was so disappointed as we have recently retired we were looking for a place to use a couple of times a year but it will not be here

Room Tip: Only book a delux Villa

My husband & I have just returned from the Mouragolf village after a 4 night stay, I am relieved it was just the 4 nights. I know from other reviews people rate the villas but ours was drab with old tatty furniture. As they were spacious & open planned you could hear the residents either side easily; from talking to bodily functions !! We also used taxi's as it rained everyday; as there was nothing to do near the villa we found ourselves using the taxi's both day & night so quite an added expense. Unfortunately we had no water the day before we were due leave due to workman working outside the complex. When it came back on late in the evening the water from all taps was brown & yukky, we were not able to have a bath or shower before leaving. Reception was poorly manned although when they were there they were polite & helpful. We opted for breakfast and was given the option to have breakfast at the 'cafe' restaurant down at the marina which was superb-lovely views over the marina, lovely staff & a huge choice of breakfasts, taxi needed to get there being the only drawback.. If you book an evening meal with the 'cafe' they give you a a15% discount + collect you & return you to the villas !! now that was a bargain & the food was superb. Mixed review on this one overall dissappointing and would not go back to Mouragolf Village.

Room Tip: If you go to Mouragolf village- hire a car !!

I have just returned from the Mouragolf Village having spent a week there.
The village is 5 mins by taxi outside Villamoura which costs 5 - 6 euro. It is within walking distance if you like a walk and the weather is good. Unfortunately we had bad weather almost all week so it costs quite a lot in taxi's.

The reception is only open until 6:00 in the evening. It is just a reception area but you can book a continental breakfast for 6.50 euro if you wish. We arrived at about 8:30 at night, we had informed them by e-mail that this would be the case and we were given a number to ring when we arrived (this number is written on the barrier and also the reception door) Someone arrived straight away to show us to our villa.
There are also taxi, and other emergency numbers written on the reception door if you need them.

The villa was beautiful, 3 bedrooms, one en-suite, and two other bathrooms with showers.
It is open plan, with a large living/dining area with table chairs, 3 seeter, 2 seeter plus armchair. TV/ DVD, stereo, CD's, books and lots of information about the resort of Villamoura and places to eat and things to do. There was also air conditioning and an open fire.

The kitchen was well equipped, full size oven, hob, microwave, iron and ironing board, washing machine and dishwasher. Tea towels/dish cloths/ towels were supplied and there was washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, detergent, cleaning fluids, etc supplied (enough to keep you going until you could replace them)

The cleaner called three times during the week which was plenty.

We had a patio area which also had sunloungers, chairs, table, parasol and a barbeque. There was a lovely communal pool with sunlounger's. Some of the villas overlooked the pool.
The bottom of the garden of the villa we had overlooked the 6th green of The Old Course.

The nearest supermarket was five mins walk away. There is another in the marina.
For the last three days we discovered that you would get a lovely english breakfast two mins walk away at Bistro O Sino, at Prado do Golf next to Maurogolf Village. (When you leave Maurogolf Village turn right walk towards the roundabout and look for the sign for food at the roadside just before roundabout) it doesn't look very appealing but the little restaurant and pool bar is run by an English couple and the food is excellent, full English breakfast for 5E. They also do lots of other food too. It's worth a try !!!!

Room Tip: The poolside villas would be nice, but the sun would be at the front of the villa from early morning...

If you're looking for a peaceful place to relax and unwind, then this is the perfect place.
So quiet and relaxing. The villas are spacious and have every home comfort you could wish for.
A 5 minute drive out of the town of Vilamoura and nearest beach. Close to many golf courses, if that is your wish.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The resort is only a half hour drive from the airport.
Excellent value for money.

These villas are located in a quiet village and are accessible from the Faro airport in 30-35 minutes drive. We stayed in a spacious villa that could hold up to 5 or even 6 persons, which makes it good value for money. The kitchen was recently refurbished, the rest of the place not so much - but you do not get the old hotel feeling, not at all. The living room is huge and even has a fireplace, and the pool is 3m deep at one end, so you can dive there.

The thing I did not enjoy was the village itself, not the hotel - you get only one cafe around, which is very British, nothing reminds you of Portugal when you're there. You can reach the main village and 2 beaches, which are ~ 3 km from the villas, so it's a long shot if you're walking.

If your looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday in the algarve than I can recommend these apartments. They are located about a 25 min walk from vilamoura centre and early morning or late evening this walk is really doable, we have an 8 year old and she didn't moan with the walk! The apartment we had was located around the pool and you have your own patio area with sunbeds. We did go in the lat week of may and the pool was never busy. I'm surevitvgets slightly busier in the summer holidays. The apartments are very nice, we paid for a delux villa but it seems that a lot of people there got upgraded to a delux as it was quiet. So I'm not sure it was worth paying or just chance your luck when its quiet. We didn't see a standard villa so I couldn't tell you if the delux was any better but we were happy with the accommodation We had.
The only negative was we had no oven! And there is only so much you can cook on the hob.
We decided against hiring a car but got bikes for a day which was really good there is a great red route cycle path that is really safe, if we had have been there longer we would have probably got the bikes for longer as its really good to get in and out of town. We Went with the bike company that they recommend and the bikes are dropped off at 8 am and collected the following day at 11am. They were not the cheapest but it is convenient and we had a problem with one of the bikes whilst we were having lunch at the marina and they came straight away and swapped it over.
The lady on the desk is really helpful and gives you maps etc there is also wifi in the reception area.
Vilamoura marina is very over priced so if you are looking for a cheap holiday I wouldn't recommend vilamoura. Although if you stick to eating in the apartments you will be fine.
Although we had a great time here I probably wouldn't go back to vilamoura, but I couldn't fault the accommodation that was really nice. Vilamoura is too commercialised for us we would prefer to see a bit more of the real algarve.
Helpful tips: pre book car hire or your resort transfer online before you travel. Our taxi cost £28 with resorthopper.com
Taxi to or from the centre should be no more than 5euro each way.
Be warned The sea in may june is very cold!
The supermarkets will call you a taxi if you do your shopping there this is a little more expensive but more convenient than walking in the sun with your shopping to the taxi rank.
If its windy and doesnt feel to hot don't make the mistake of not putting on sun lotion... You will still burn.
The 2 beaches in vilamoura are separated by the marina the beach to the right is a very long walk if you don't have a car. I would recommend the beach to the left hand side (down tivoli avenue) don't buy food on the beach it's a major rip off.
If you travel in the quieter months there may not always be other children at this complex.

All in all I would stay at this accommodation again just a shame it's in vilamoura.

Room Tip: If you have children get a room overlooking the pool, also if you like the sunnasknfor a villa on th...
