We booked a private apartment, clean, spacious and safe. Ants were a problem as I discovered was for everybody who lives in Portugal. No reflection on the hotel. The Hotel will provide spray if you ask. This Hotel is lovely and I will be going back therefore please do not be put off by my review, they are merely suggestions. I agree that it is not a five star and the floor employees let this hotel down badly, pool service very poor along with the fact they expect a tip for bad service. 5 star food prices by the pool and not so generous servings. Constantly had to go look for a waiter, they should be pro active around the pool area !. No activities at the pool for kids so this is more of a couple holiday nevertheless our children enjoyed themselves. The pool is lovely. I ordered room service one evening the person on the other end spoke very little English I ended up having to walk to reception to make my order, when you see how large the complex is you will appreciate my comment. Does this make for a bad or poor hotel. NO. I do recommend this hotel. It is safe, well positioned & clean I will go back.

Room Tip: Private apartments look for blocks A,B&C. as the rest seem isolated DE&F

I went to this hotel at the beginning of August with my boyfriend, my father and my twelve year old sister. We only booked for one week and after being there for not even an hour we wished we'd booked two or even three!
The staff were wonderful and there was always someone on hand.
The breakfast was perfect, a wonderful range of things, the omelettes were the best and the pastries!
The pool areas were lovely, the pools were never too crowded but watch out for people saving beds, especially the big day beds, they were being saved from 8am!
The pool bar did the best cocktails I've ever had, ask the larger chap behind the bar to make you his strawberry, lime and black vodka cocktail.
We did eat at the hotel three nights, it was lovely, but slightly expensive, wasn't much for children with basic taste would eat.
When we went into the marina, which is only a 5/10 minute walk from the hotel, we had some lovely meals, my favourite was a restaurant called News. The staff were fantastic and the location and view was perfect.
One of the best holidays I've had, and certainly the best one in Portugal. Even Cristiano Ronaldo must like it, because he turned up for a few days rest, we saw him sunbathing by the pool!
Pretty incredible

Room Tip: Second floor is perfect! And pool/lake/sea view is wonderful

This is the second year we have stayed here as a family if 8 in 2 x 2 bed self catering apartments. There a 2 pools plus a large sandy bottomed pool. Just over the road is a lovely beach which slopes gently so is good for kids. There are lifeguards who provide a beach wheelchair to take disabled people down to the sea and you get free use of sun shade and sun beds so you can leave the wheelchair safely. The marina is just the other side of the hotel with a great range of restaurants. Prices are reasonable compared to uk. The hotel does a themed buffet each night which is fantastic value at 37 euros each inc drinks for 3 courses all you can eat and drink. Half price for kids. Overall you couldn't get a better location and mostly flat easy access for wheelchairs

We stayed at the Lake for a week and while it's a nice and large resort this is clearly not run as a luxury or 5* resort. Our apartment (not an hotel room) was nice, clean, well maintained and large. They come with a modern kitchen and underground parking. Two things were annoying: thanks to the tile floors you hear every movement (people, chairs, etc) from above and even next door sometimes. Secondly the bars/clubs on the beach (and next door) played loud music most of the nights until very early hours (maybe the A/B/C blocks are more protected from this than D/E/F).

Beautiful gardens but in general the grounds aren't very clean nor cleaned often: by the sand pool they never removed cigarette buds, emptied hash trays and other things people might have dropped. The restrooms near the pools make you feel you are in some unmaintained public restroom...

The furniture and tools/glasses (at the breakfast area) needed to be checked every time (yesterday it took 5 glasses to find one which was clean). The breakfast in itself was quite good.

It's a large property so it gets pretty chaotic at peak hours, breakfast can be messy, seating for lunch, etc. They try to manage people who "reserve" sunbeds and who don't show up till later but you had to be down by the pools by 9/930AM latest in order to secure one...

Finally very mixed feelings on the staff. Half of them very helpful, polite and happy/smiling, the other half, no comment. As much as breakfast and lunch was messy as much dining at their seafood and meat restaurants in the evening was near perfect: very good fish and meat, superb staff (not the same as breakfast/lunch), etc. And food prices were really descent too.

Overall a nice resort, but clearly not a "five stars".

Cannot rate this hotel highly enough. It was a fantastic holiday made even better by all the hotel has to offer. Staff extremely helpful and polite, everything spotlessly clean. Plenty of sunbeds, even arriving at the pool after midday we were able to find 3 beds together next to one of the three pools. The breakfasts are amazing, everything you could possibly wish for on the buffet. We didn't eat at the main fish restaurant as it was just too pricey for us but the meals at the Blue Lagoon were wonderful and we did treat ourselves to an evening meal there which was the best of the holiday. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and hope to return there sometime in the futre.

Room Tip: Personally I won't bother with choosing a sea view at the extra cost. Rooms overlooking the gar...

The best Vilamora has to offer in my opinion and the place is lovely. The staff were friendly, especially the pool staff. Just ask and nothing was a problem. We had an amazing view from our sea view balcony. The breakfast buffet is incredible, it has everything you could ever want to eat from waffles to omlettes, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc. They have 3 pools, one is salt water with a sandy mini beach, one is unheated and the other is heated. The price for food and drinks are rather expensive on the marina but there is better value for money in the back streets, It is only a 10 minute walk there where you will find lots of great restaurants and fun pubs. We stayed here for 8 nights and would definately stay here again. The rooms are large, the beds comfy, the spa is beautiful. We had no complaints at all. Get a panaromic view or sea view, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Sea View best no need to upgrade to Panoramic really. Westerly facing for the evening sunset.

This is a super Hotel Resort and well worth it's five star rating. The location was very good, just a short walk from the Marina with the very good variety of excellent restaurants if you wanted a change from eating in the hotel. It had a super spa which was all included in the price apart from special treatments.

Room Tip: We stayed in the garden room and could still see the pool, lovely grounds and lake.
