Went to the Equestrian centre last week for several mornings with our young family to watch the show jumping during the Champions Tour. It was great! Our eldest (2 years) is horse mad and loved it, watching the horses warming up and looking round the stables as well as watching the events. We met some lovely people and one of the grooms for the Portuguese team was so lovely and friendly and let us watch whilst she got a horse ready for the Grand Prix.

Food was good and well priced as were the drinks. Free to get in and was just a relaxed and chilled out event, the UK could learn a lot as we were naturally made to feel part of the event.

There are other tours throughout the year and if you like horses it is a must and even if you don't it is a nice few hours or day out (my husband likened it to the cricket, watching a bit but also just soaking up the atmosphere and having a few drinks in the sun).

Daughter has been competing on the Atlantic Showjumping tour and my husband and I spent a week there this February and in February 2015. The weather was not that kind this year in comparison to 2015 which was fabulous but the show was still lovely. Great verandah between the rings that was sheltered from the breeze. Sat in the sun watching showjumping. Check the website Vilamoura Equestrian to see what is going on. Public get in for free and both restaurants are great and good value for money. Only a short taxi ride from the Marina or from any of the hotels in Vilamoura. A lot of people just rock up to sit and watch the jumping in the sun. With wine at 3 euros a glass and sunloungers to sit on along with giant beanbags what more can you want!! If only horseshows in England were more like this!!!

Beautiful place to visit if you love horses. Amazing facilities and a great coffee shop and VIP restaurant. FEI dressage is from April and showjumping galore from then too.
