“Great value!”
Reviewed September 28, 2011

I have just returned from a 4 night stay with my boyfriend. We were very plesantly surprised by how lovely it was. We got a good deal last minute for the rooms so to be honest we were not expecting that much but, it really was great value for money.

Okay the villas are a little dated and do not have things like sky TV and a hairdryer but, the we had a massive two bedroom villa which was equipped with all the modcons for self catering and it was clean.

The best thing about these villas is definitely the swimming pool which is really big and spotlessly clean, another bonus was that there were hardly any other people there so you basically get the pool to yourself!

There are a family of cats that live the the villas, so if you dont like cats this probably isn't the place for you but, i thought they were lovely- they are not starving and would not bother you if you left them alone. We made some nice holiday pet friends..look out for stumpy and Dyson ;o)

The location is ideal because its only a 20 minute drive from the airport so its a perfect place to stay for a short break. The only thing that you should be aware of is that it is about a 45 minute walk to the marina, which isnt so bad going there as it is downhill but i wouldn't recommend trying to walk back there are also hardly any street signs so its pretty easy to get lost! We pretty much relied on taxis to and from the Marina but, this was not a problem as they are very reliable and never cost more than 5 euros.

We were not overly impressed by the Marina itself as its very over-priced and is a strange mix of chavs and rich older people but, if you look slightly away from the Marina there are some really nice bars and the drinks are really reasonably priced...you can get a large beer and wine for 5 euros so you really cant complain!

The best supermarket is definitely Jaffers by the Marina, I thought his was very resonable priced and had quite a good range of things.

One thing definitely worth mentioning is the lovely lady on reception, she was so friendly and would go out of her way to help you.

In conclusion, this place is brilliant value for money and we will definitely be returning in the future.

Just got back from a fabulous week at Prado Villas. Really lovely location villas a bit dated but roomy and spotlessly clean and the swimming pool was a good size. Isobelle at reception very helpful. Level walk of about 30 minutes to the marina but worth checking out a couple of restaurants nearby - Monte Sol - great for lunch and the Pirate - bit more expensive but really gorgeous setting for a special night out. Will certainly go back again.

We've just returned from a stay and I have to say we couldn't fault the place, on arrival we were told our villa was just renovated and couldn't get over how nice it was when we let ourselves in, everything brand new and seriously modern, all rooms had air con, extremely large bedrooms, en suite had a rainforest shower, main bathroom had 2 sinks, bath and shower, sitting room was spacious beautifully decorated, large wall mounted flat screen tv, l shaped sofa, dining table etc and again brand new modern kitchen with all mod cons Inc dishwasher, we couldn't have asked for more! Pool spotless and perfect temp and plenty of sunloungers, grounds immaculate.

Only downside was that it's around 20 min walk to the closest shop and it's a total rip off, almost twice the price of Jafers but it's only €5 taxi fare to the Marina and great supermarket there. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it

We stayed at Prado Villas in May. We are a family of 4 (2 kids aged 6 & 10). The resort is very spacious, great for the kids to run outside and play while we relaxed in the villa. The villa was spacious and comfortable. Not far at all from the centre of Vilamoura or the beach. We will definetely return again to Prado Villas

Stayed for 1 week with my partner in a 2 bedroom villa which cost us just over £300 for the week. The villa was very spacious, had all facilities you would need and a lovely outside area with spacious communal pool and lovely, well maintained gardens.

Yes the decor is somewhat 70s and it is not what you would descrive as luxurious, but the Hilton is just across the road and probably more than double the price if thats what your after.

We hired a car which helped immensely with driving around the area very easy. I would recommend printing your own maps / directions beforehand as it could be tough to find in the dark, however we took a couple of google maps and had no problems!!

Bargain, self catering villas with everything you need in a great location for a great price. What more can you ask for.

If you want a centrally located place within easy walking distance of beaches, restaurants and shopping then Prado Villas is probably not for you.

If on the other hand you want a quiet relaxing break in a comfortable villa in beautifully maintained grounds and don't mind driving to the shops and restaurants then Prado Villas could be just what you are looking for!

When you find a property listed on Expedia at £15 per night you start to suspect that something must be wrong but reassured by the TripAdvisor reviews we went ahead and were delighted to find that it is even better than we were expecting. (We actually booked through Sky travel and with a £100 Sky Perks discount the total cost of the holiday was less than the cost of booking flights!)

Unlike many self catering holidays couples are not discriminated against with 'under occupancy' charges, instead there is a cheaper one bedroom villa rate although all of the villas do have two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with bath and one en-suite with shower).

There are only 18 villas spread around quite a large site with mature trees and flower beds. The Old course is on one side with obviously very expensive mansions on the other sides, some were being renovated leading to some noise but not excessive. On most holidays we tend to spend most days away from our hotel sightseeing but we found the villas so nice that we happy to spend much of our time on site just relaxing.

The villas are not perfect though the faults are not major.

They would not suitable for those dependent on a wheelchair since there are three steps between the bedroom/bathroom area and the living area. Fortunately this was not a problem for my wife.

The TV only picks up very snowy Portuguese stations but a satellite dish was being installed on one villa during our stay so this may be resolved shortly.

Reviewed October 17, 2008

We stayed at the PradoVillas in September with our teenage daughter and her boyfriend.

We chose this accommodation as a cheap four-person base in Vilamoura for which, I suppose, it was ideal. The villas themselves are not that attractive but the grounds and pool are pleasant and they are located in a good residential area near The Old Village. They are notoriously difficult to find and in the end we resorted to stopping by one of the A-Z map signs beside the road and using a camera phone to provide a map.

Check in was easy enough although you need to tell them in advance if you are arriving outside office hours. I think they overstated the personal safety speech though. It left us feeling anxious about our safety, not helped by the flimsy security shutters and quietness of the area at night.

The inside of the villas are best described as clean but basic. The kitchen was in desperate need of a refurb and we had to share it with the local ant population.

I thought the lack of TV remote would be a problem until I realised there were only a few Portuguese stations with abysmal reception. Our main frustration though was the lack of aircon. The villas stayed cool during the day thanks to thick walls but at night it was stifling. If we had stayed any longer we would have bought fans from the supermarket.

The walk to the marina took us 25 minutes and was actually quite a pleasant stroll. The beach would take about another 10 minutes. We always got a taxi back at night because the area is so quiet. The taxi fare was always less than 5 euros.

So, yes, the villas are cheap but I would have paid a bit more for aircon (or even just a couple of fans) and satellite TV that actually worked.

The villas won’t suit everyone and you need to be sure that you want a quiet, basic villa, 25 minutes from the marina before you book here. The pictures should help you decide.
