This was our 3rd stay in this lovely hotel, the staff are lovely the food is excellent, nothing was to much trouble. I emailed the hotel to request a sea view in the middle not to high, I also mentioned we would be arriving early (10 am) our room was ready and all requests met. I received a complimentary treatment in the spa which was amazing, we also had 2 complimentary drinks which was useful as 5 euros for a beer and 3.15 euros for a coke is very expensive. We were dissapointed that half board guests can only eat in the restaurant downstairs now and not the steakhouse upstairs anymore, but the food was good and plenty of choice, breakfast was also very good with coffee served to you at the table. The pool area is good with clean towels daily from the pool hut and a drinks service, there are also plenty of sun beds at all times of the day. The maid service in the rooms is very good with clean towels and sheets daily if required, the bed turndown service was rather early (5pm - 6pm) we were normally showering so not needed. I do think that as this hotel has been refurbished over the last feew years that different floors are now quite odd, as the lift stops on different floors you notice that they are all carpeted differently it would be better if it matched. As this hotel is also rated 5* the decor in our room was slightly jaded, there was a squashed fly on the wall and the carpet could do with a deep clean as was quite stained. We will certainly be returning next year.

My friend and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Tivoli. I can honestly say that from first setting foot in the place we were not disappointed once. Having read many reviews befor we went, we opted for a Deluxe room, a refurbished one, and were placed on the 9th floor. We overlooked the Marina, which was just a beautiful view. Our room was fantastic, beds were amazing and th bathroom lovely and modern and spotless. We could not fault it at all. I think some of the reviews on here are a bit unkind. I've stayed in many 5* Hotels and you do realise that they differ greatly, it depends on what you expect. We were never kept awake by noise from the Marina, can't comment on the Puro Beach Lakeside, but we ventured in there a couple ot times and there was no one about...can only imagine that it comes alive on Fri/Sat evenings.
The choice at breakfast was huge, and I cannot understand one reviewers comment that there was not enough fresh fruit, there was mixed fruit salads, fresh pineapple and melons, apples and bananas.
We never ate dinner in the hotel, but we had lunch 3 times, prices were not above what we were expecting to pay, so were not shocked.
All in all, we loved our stay, and will probably go back next year with another couple of friends. We were 2 women on our own, wanting nothing but a bit of luxury and peace and within easy walking distance to restaurants. We were not disappointed on any front.

Room Tip: Request Deluxe refurbished room

We have just returned from this hotel after a 4 night stay and would advise anyone considering booking to lower your expectations of service, cleanliness and rest. The hotel website and any brochure is entirely misleading - the rooms are old, shabby and actually dirty. We were in a Jnr Suite on 1st floor and asked to be moved it was revolting. however the room on 7th floor just as bad but we gave up and accepted it. The sink was blocked and spewed god knows what out, the carpet filthy, sweet wrappers from last guests under the bed and ear buds on balcony. Really obvious things so I'd hate to think what the eye isn't seeing! Our first meal was at the poolside restaurant a couple of hours into trip. The staff seemed to ignore you for an inordinate amount of time, this was our clue to the ethos and culture of this hotel-rude, slow and treat you as an inconvenience. My Piri Piri Chicken came with a snail embedded into the chicken leg! Disgusting and when we pointed it out the rude waitress refused at first to not charge us for it (uneaten and I was gagging BTW!). She conceded when my boyfriend suggested the hotel manager may like to come and discuss it. The pool side waiters have a competition on who can serve the least patrons each day despite being tipped 5 euros a round? We literally had to chase one guy all the way to to the bar where he still pretended he couldn't hear us shout excuse me? The bar man's nickname was cat weasel (so make your own mind up how charming he was!). The maid's walk into your room without knocking at least 3 times daily so don't be having any romantic time- it will be interrupted rudely. A nightclub has been built across from the pool area so don't think you will get any sleep anywhere as there is also one on the marina side. The hotel bar closes at 1am- no doubt to force you into this club where an entry charge is in place and drinks twice the price? The breakfast looks all OK but is stone cold for cooked, poor quality cereals, little fruit choice and a queue a mile long for omelettes. The only saving grace this awful place has is the spa and the beach bar- we suspected these are outsourced though as they appear to be to well maintained and appreciative of clients to be part of this hotel. We hired a boat for an afternoon and our skipper who was local was wonderful- when he asked where we were staying he had heard a lot of bad things about this place and said his customers often say how unfriendly and arrogant they are.. I did check Trip Advisor and was confident we had booked the right place for two stressed out folks to take a couple of well needed days off - very very disappointed and would not recommend this place to anyone. We're well travelled and have stayed at some amazing 5* hotels, but we also don't mind slumming it so we're not spoilt expecting to be waited on hand and foot. Just don't wrap a slum up in fancy paper and charge top dollar when inside it's rotten to the core. Our bill for a 4 night stay was huge and it was definitely not money well spent.

Recently returned from Vilamoura after spending 2 weeks in the Tivoli Marina Hotel. Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Our room overlooked the marina where the sun shone until 9pm most nights. We arrived back in the room one day to a gift of Champage and strawberries dipped in chocolate as it was our honeymoon.
We were half board and would recommend it as the food in both restaurants was of a very high standard. Service in restaurants were excellent too. Room was lovely (especially the view), clean and well equiped. The beach was accessed directly from the hotel grounds and security only allowed guests to re-enter the grounds. The hotel has an association with a facility on the beach called the Puro Beach Club where guests could hire padded beds and elevated 4 poster sunbeds, however the loud music played here was very annoying when lying at the hotel pool area. Overall we had an excellent time. The only complaint we had (as many other guests did too) was regarding the selfish behaviour of an asian wedding party who made excessive noise in their rooms and in the corridors from late until 05.30am on two nights. Thankfully the left on the 3rd day.

On our first trip away with our 6 month old daughter we chose Vilamoura because of the short flight and short transfer and we chose the Tivoli Marina because we wanted to be central in the resort and have a little luxury for us for the week. We were not dissappointed on any front.
From the moment we arrived we found the place clean, spacious and well located. If you step out of the huge and beautiful grounds of the hotel on one side you have a lovely beach and on the other you have the upscale and lively marina with all its bars and restaurants.
The staff from the friendly concierge Helder to the restaurant staff and bubbly entertainment staff (Anderson) buzzing around the pool were to a person, excellent!
We stayed on the renovated 5th floor so I cannot comment on any other rooms but our sea-view room was lovely, spacious and spotless and the beds were to die for. The other bonus was the Nespresso machine and pods in the room which was great to keep you awake on those night feeds for the baby!
The breakfasts were excellent but we only ate on one other occasion in the hotel. The food in the hotel is expensive, the lunchtime buffet is €25 per person for Gods sake and €5.50 for a small OJ from the pool bar! However they have an a la carte menu which allows you to get a snack for under a tenner. We chose to eat outside the hotel each lunchtime and evening.
The food in Vilamoura is OK only. We visited 7 different restaurants at night and can recommend Ostra D'Oura the highest (despite the TV's in the corner), also fairly good were Dom Miguel (nice Chateaubriand) and O'Vitoria and O Colonial. I would avoid the Mayflower (average food, poor service and higher than average prices). I am aware that there are a few excellent restaurants outside Vilamoura inluding Michelin starred establishments but not suitable for a 6 month old baby i'm afraid so will have to experience these the next time we visit.........and after this trip, i'm sure there will be a next time!
One little tip.......Join the GHA loyalty scheme in advance of arrival. This gets you free wi-fi (normally €17 per day) and free newspaper of your choice for the week. Well worth it as its free to join.

I stayed here for one night on 6th June 2011.

The location was great, right on the Marina with fab views.

I ate in the snack bar for lunch and had breakfast. Both meals were of good quality and breakfast had plenty of choice.

I stayed in a Twin Deluxe room which had a view of the marina with a balcony. It also had a Nespresso machine which was a nice touch.

The pool, lobby and bar areas of the hotel were open and modern.

I stayed on a business trip but would love to come back and take a holiday here. The beach is really close by and they have a lovely bar with chillout beds on the beach. Very Ibiza!

I have stayed at the Tivoli on numerous occasions and highly recommend it.
The staff are polite and welcoming and the hotel facilities are very good.

On this occasion I travelled with a family member who is in a wheelchair. Although the disabled facilities aren't fantastic, the hotel did try their best to provide for his needs.
In the bedrooms grab rails are provided to assist guests. Although this helps a bathrooms need to be turned into wet rooms to allow for those guests who cannot move themselves from wheelchairs into the shower/bath.
They have recently built a elevator from the bar area which provides access to the ground floor. This was very helpful in moving the wheelchair from the first to bottom floor.
The new bar area is gorgeous and provides fantastic views across the marina.

The hotel is very expensive but I suppose you get what you pay for. It's clean, bright and modern with beautiful views out to sea, and across the marina.
The food( breakfast) caters to all and the other restaurants look very nice.
Vilamoura is a fantastic place with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and plenty to see, eat and do.
I will return to the Tivoli again.
