As with some other reviewers, I was a little apprehensive as some of the reviews had not been complimentary. However my husband and I have just had a long weekend at the hotel and were very happy with it. We arrived on an early flight and so were in the hotel by 10am. With no prompting the receptionist changed our room number so that we could have a room that was already prepared. We found all the staff pleasant and effiicient. Breakfast was fine though might be a little boring if you were staying for a long visit. Room was very comfortable and quiet with efficient air-conditioning. Position onvenient for the marina and beach. Can recommend the Petunia restaurant, just behind the hotel for good local cooking and friendly service at very reasonable prices.

After reading some of the reviews i was a bit worried about the hotel i'd booked for a weeks holiday with my wife and our 16mth old son, on seeing the hotel and meeting the staff all these fears were put at ease. Check in went smoothly and the reception staff were very friendly especially with our son. Our room was 420 a senior suite overlooking the sea and part of the marina, the room was very large with 2 bedrooms, lounge/dining room, 1 ensuite, separate bathroom, walk in wardrobe, 1 large terrace/balcony and another balcony off the main bedroom, other bonuses were a fridge and a t.v in each room. The decor is a little dated but the rooms are very clean with made service everyday. Bad points for the hotel are they seen to charge silly amounts for everything e.g 7.5 euro charge everytime you use room service and 3 euro a day charge for safetey deposit box. Breakfast was ok, same everyday though although a good selection, to have eggs other than scambled there was another silly charge of between 2.5 and 5 euro per egg. Poolside great and clean although we used the beach (200yds away) most days. Marina 100yards away, absolutely fantastic wide variety of bars and restaurants. il lamparo and tai tai our pick of the restaurants although can be expensive, for cheaper restaurants try opposite the irish cabin bar, theres 3 squares there with plenty more bars and restaurants casa de pescador is a must especially for a steak. shop around for prices for e.g beer prices can range from 1.5 euro to a massive 8 euro. one last tip for a great full day out try the zoomarine at 20euro a head (under 5s free) its a must my 16month old lad love it. Happy travelling!!!!!!!

I just spent a week in The Don Pedro Marina Hotel and had a fantastic holiday, The location was just perfect, close to the marina and beach, we had a third floor room with both a seaview & a great view of the marina... however breakfast time turned my stomach.. sickly scrambled eggs floating in a sea of yelloow water, mini sausages that tasted like something of a tapas meal that had been left standing for a year!!!!! the bacon was crispier than a pair of my socks, however there was a plentifull amount of fresh orange juice and cheap cereal... but hey I am being picky!!! the hotel staff were very helpfully and friendly and jokes aside the holiday was great.. a little expensive in bars ect but still lovely, we booked the cheapest boat cruise there was @ just 15 euros each, the caves and rocks boat trip (most other trips on a boat cost from 200-500 euro) it lasted for 3 hours and included free glasses of wine, searching for dolphins and a close ride to the rocks and caves around the coast, the boat staff were very friendly and it was the highlight of our holiday (you can book from office on the marina) so no need for expensive boat trips then!! all in all it was a great holiday and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.... there was't much in the way of music around the bars however but nothing is perfect in life.

We have just come back from a weeks stay at the Marina and found the staff very freindly and helpful all except the breakfast staff maybe that is because of all the misarable faces of the poor guests having to eat that awfull breakfast it was DISGUSTING !!!! My boyfreind opended the dish with the supposedly the scrambled egg in and he had to leave the room it made him feel so sick it was just a lot of sloppy egg swimming in water EEEEEE !!!!! .
The pool area was very clean with plenty of beds and the staff were always eager to please
The best thing about this hotel in the location 5 mins from the beach and the marina which is beautiful by night however, it was very quiet and the staff all looked fed up as there was no atmospere at all we walked to a little square at the back of the marina as we thought that would be more lively but no just the same NO atmosphere NO music NO SMILES !!!! overall a beautiful place however people working there need to SMILE MORE

I have just arrived back from a weeks stay at the Dom Pedro Marina. Both my partner and I enjoyed it. I'll give the highs and lows..
HIGHS:
-The location was great..2mins from a lovely beach and just minutes from the marina. All of the restaurants/bars are within walking distance.
- The staff were generally very helpful. The bar/pool area staff being the friendliest and most willing to please. The reception staff were fine- allowing an early check in and efficient for booking airport taxi etc.
-We found the rooms to be very acceptable. Yes I agree not 4*, not luxurious, but very clean, comfortable beds and worth paying extra for the great sea views.
-General ambience in the lobby/pool area was pleasant & welcoming. I agree the decor etc is a little dated but it has a certain charm. We preferred it to the cold minimalism we experienced in neighbouring 4*/5* hotels.
LOWS:
-I was not overly impressed with the breakfast. I found it to be quite canteen-like, and by the end of our stay I was sick of looking at the same thing. The staff in the breakfast room were also probably the least friendly and helpful in the hotel.
-I have to agree with the previous comments about the hotel entertainment. The piano-playing singer was very good..but the same songs night after night?! Needs a bit of variety! Didn't encourage guests to socialise around the lobby which was a pity.

Our last stay in the Algarve was at the 5* Sheraton Pine Cliffs. We are a young couple who like to enjoy our hard earned time off work! This isn't The Ritz, it's not glamorous or trendy or even lively for that matter but it's very acceptable. We wanted a chilled out break in a central location that wouldn't break the bank and this did just the trick!

Have just returned from 3 day stay in Dom Pedro marina hotel, it is not a 4 star, 3 star at best. Reception staff fine but you had to ask for information, no booklets about the hotel or resort, no information in the room. Breakfast buffet ok, poor selection, if you want boiled egg you pay a whopping € 2 per egg. Staff at breakfast seemed to be there for the sake of it rather than being pro active.
On the plus side, very nice pool area and handy to all the areas of the resort.
We would advise Room only and get your breakfast elsewhere!
