Reviewed July 22, 2013

I Reviewed this property in June 2011 and returned on our usual Holiday in November 2011 making use of our Presidential Suite with its own jacuzzi and a very large Balcony with excellent views . Last year for some unknown reason we decided to book elsewhere on the Algarve, in fact we booked in the Praia De Oura but the Accommodation was not a patch on our Apartment in the DP Marina though the staff were very obliging. During our stay we were drawn back to Vilamoura in fact booked in at the Dom Pedro Portobelo fo 2 nights and went tthe Bar in the DP Marina meeting the staff some who seem to have been there since the opening. What were we doing moving away from our Apartments, with its ideal Location where I could visit anywhere in the Algarve and have. The Service has always been to 5 star level and the Personel no matter what department have always been helpful.
So without any other thoughts we are going back again this year we felt very homesick by not being there last November. We have tried other places and Countries but after going to Vilamoura and the Dom Pedro Hotels for 29 years , using the Dom Pedro Marina from its Birth .
I would rate it a five but the only fault I find is it does need a bit of updating not to much because some of its present Decor is part of its charm, like Raffles in the Early days when I was in the Navy. and just a small complaint the D PEDRO BATH GOWNS are far to small.

Room Tip: Apartment with Sea View and a good Balcony and perhaps out of the Summer Season when it is hot an ve...

Good location, 5 minute walk from marina and beach. Overall the hotel is clean but very out dated and in need of major modernisation. Breakfast choice good although sausages not great and only provided once a week. Room cleaned on a daily basis with fresh towels. Staff very friendly. Good value for money.

We had a great time at the Dom Pedro Marina. The location is superb, a short walk to the marina, yet it was still pretty quiet at night despite there being a club quite near. The hotel is not too big, and the pool area is lovely, with lots of sun from early until late.

The breakfast buffet was particularly good, with a different type of egg every day, as well as excellent scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, plus cold meats, cheese, cereals, pastries etc.

We also were impressed with the value for money, the poolside snacks and drinks were pretty reasonable, e.g. 3 euros for a glass of wine. The staff were lovely and all very friendly.

Don't expect trendy boutique style décor, this is definitely traditional, but the rooms were clean, spacious with a desk, separate table and chairs and balcony. The air conditioning was brilliant, didn't have to fiddle with it once.

Great little hotel. Nice and quiet. Good sized rooms with excellent air-conditioning. Good on site restaurant with lovely fish very well priced compared to the Marina.
Great staff, one of our party left behind his wallet on the Sunday, we'd been called and assured it would be in the post. It was. Money, cards et al in tact!

Last minute booking at Dom Pedro marina, location is good but for the quality of the rooms not great and rather expensive compared to crowne plaza that I stayed in prior to this hotel. However the staff were very helpful and there was always room at the pool to sunbathe.

I booked this as it was close to the marina and allowed my other half to go off wandering when I was reading by the pool
The pool area itself was very small. The food was ok. Salads were nice. Drinks very expensive. €2.50 for small glass of sprite!
Staff fine, no complaints. It was kind of our second honeymoon as my other half was sick on our first so they had a bottle of cava for us in the room which was lovely.
Rooms ok. Not 4 star in my opinion. An ok 3. Beds noisy and very low down. Pillows lumpy. Air con ok but it was not overly warm when we were there. if it was 30+ every day you would struggle to,stay cool in the room.
The balcony was tiny. Just fit two chairs and a table at a push but the view of the marina and the sunset were stunning.
Breakfasts were average. I had toast, cereal and fruit every day. The cooked food was swimming in grease so gave it a miss

Internet!!! It's bad enough that you have to pay in. Four star hotel. They should bill the room. But you have to pay for each device. We had two iPhones and one ipad. 3 days is €13. We were there for ten days. That adds up!! Especially since all the bars along the marina offer it for free. Tip! It says you can only log on with one device, if however you log out of one device wait about 15 mins you can then log onto another. Still it's very annoying and expensive in this day and age!

The spa that they advertise is not in the dom pedro marina. It's in the dom pedro golf. It was ok but there were beauticians locally charging less. I was just a bit annoyed that it was off site, even though you can ring from your room. I don't think they should advertise having a spa if it is in another hotel. Maybe I read the literature wrong but I don't think it was clearly indicated

If you want to go to the albufeira shopping mall you can go,with a local travel company. €8 each return. Taxi was €38 ew so the it's of €80 to get to the mall. The hotel did to give us this option. They only told us about the bus to faro shopping mall

Vilamoura itself is lovely. I would recommend using the beach the far side of the marina, falesia beach is STUNNING. Sun beds cost €8 for each of us incl a small umbrella

Food is expensive along the marina but all in all its a lovely relaxed chilled place to holiday

The hotel was ok but just be aware your paying for location which is superb

Room Tip: Ask for a room up high facing the marine. Go to the supermarket to the right of the hotel for your c...

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion.

I really hope that you had a nice stay with us and I was truly disappointed to learn that your experience was not totally in keeping with your expectations. I will take in consideration your suggestions and hope that in your next visit you will find everything at your convenience.

I would like to point out that we do not advertise as having a SPA in the Hotel, it’s published everywhere, including in our Services Directory placed in all the rooms, that the SPA is at Dom Pedro Golf Resort (2 minutes walking distance) and as a guest of Dom Pedro you can use it.

I was a pleasure to have you as our guest and we hope to welcome you again.

We have just returned fro a 7 night stay at the DPM. We had an excellent time and the hotel staff were, without exception, warm , welcoming and very friendly. From the breakfast through reception and the bar we were made to feel very comfortable.
The hotel is not too large, it is situated near the marina which has countless bars and restaurants (Although we would reccommend taking a short walk back from the marina to some of the smaller squares where the food is just as good, maybe even better - and definately better value!)
The breakfast was extensive and well presented, the pool area and gardens, whilst a little small, were very clean with plenty of sunbeds. Maybe not the best choice for a young family but we thought the overall experience was brilliant!
Thanks to all at Dom Pedro Marina for a great short break.
