“Incredible meal!”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Believe all the great reviews of Oliveira Doura that you've read on Trip Advisor! Tonight my husband & I had the type of meal we'd dreamed of having when we came to Portugal. A small, intimate restaurant, a warm, hospitable owner & staff, and ilncredible food...a LOT of incredible food. Be sure to book ahead (they're closed on Mondays), and then just sit back and enjoy. The veal, served with creamy mashed potatoes, was incredible, as was the lamb tagine. We've already reserved again for later this week. Certainly the best meal we've had in the Algarve.

“Amazing!!”
Reviewed November 8, 2013 via mobile

Together with 6 friends my wife & I ate here last night. The owner made us very welcome & sat us at a nice table. After a short while the staff began bringing various starters for us all to share. There was no choice it was what the chef had decided to prepare that night. They were all delicious.
We then chose 4 main courses from the menu which is based on Portuguese food from around the world one of these is prawns from Mozambique. These were awesome & I am not exaggerating when I tell you they were a foot long & when cooked & cut in half lengthways looked like a lobster!! We also had chicken.wild boar & a lamb tagine. These 4 main courses were more than enough for the 8 of us. There is no wine list it's red or white.both very drinkable & only €12 per bottle. The whole bill worked out at € 65 per couple but we did drink a lot of wine!! I reckon a meal for 2 with 1 bottle of wine would be no more than € 50.
We will certainly be returning & this restaurant certainly deserves its no1 spot on this site.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed November 5, 2013 via mobile

From the warm friendly welcome to the relaxed atmosphere not to mention the fantastic food we were served, I would safely say this was one of the nicest meals we have experienced in the Algarve. Complimentary little starters were beautiful ... Wine is red or white !! We opted for the red, it was lovely. Main course I had lamb tagine and my wife and monk fish (with 4 lovely juicy prawns on top) both delicious and then desserts on the house, small selection of fruit and a apple cake. They really do know how to look after you here. Well worth a visit. Thanks

“Overrated”
Reviewed November 4, 2013 via mobile

Limited menu of traditional Portugese food. If you like meat that has been slow cooked for days and served in a stew format then you're in business. Staff extremely nice. Wine choice is "Red or White"....we didn't particularly like the red. Very inexpensive menu.

“Different but disappointing”
Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

Encouraged by TA reviews we went to this restaurant full of expectation, only to be disappointed. The starter was tasty, but the main course was decidedly average, lacking in flavour and barely warm. This was not helped by the fact that the food was served on cold plates. We did however notice that food brought to a table nearby later in the evening, appeared to be piping hot. Maybe we were unlucky? The desert was tasty and the wine - your choice is red or white, no spending hours over a wine list! - was good. Wouldn't go back.
