I am used to Vila Sol being a lot better course than experienced this October. Many tees had been overused and divot ridden, fairways poorly cut and overwatered despite previous days rains and the greens were of very variable pace. Compared with past years we were of the impression that too many sacrifices have been made at the expense of course maintainance and attention to detail which made Vila Sol the championship course it was!

Th e clubhouse was ok and the service and food was good, the setting lovely. Again a pity we could not reflect on the usual high praise for our golf experience of Vila Sol as we could for the other courses we played in the fortnight!!

Thank John P

Played here at the weekend for the 1st time having played all the Oceanic courses and Vale De Lobo on previous visits. We were put on the Prime and Challenge 9's which were fine. Tee boxes were a bit tired but greens were good quality and a nice change from the lightning quick greens that you tend to get in the Algarve. I wouldn't say there are any holes that particularly stood out as signature/memorable. If given the choice of all Vilamoura courses; this would be lower down on the list but nothing wrong with it per se.

Only one issue to grumble with. We had a 1pm tee off, arrived in plenty of time, and when we enquired about buggies were told that there were none left. As a compromise they offered us electric trolleys but then on inspection there was only 1 available (we were a 4-ball). The course wasn't particularly busy so that suggests they don't have the greatest stock of buggies. Given how hot it gets out there and the fact that you can't book buggies in advance; this could be an issue during peak times for those that require buggies.

Our group of 8 played last week. We arrived well before our tee time and enquired if there was a possibility of teeing off sooner. The guy in the pro shop abruptly said " not possible " without checking. We waited and watched the first tee remain empty for 30 minutes. We eventually did start earlier than our allocated time after speaking to another member of staff. We were made to feel like an inconvience by both the staff and the retired pretentious members in the clubhouse.
The course was average. We've played 3 Oceanic and 3 Pestana courses in the area and this course was rated lowest by 7/8 of our group. The course wasn't in great condition,it looked tired, greens were uncut and the tee boxes shabby.

Play here every year and it never disappoints. One of my favourite courses in the Algarve. Getting a little tired but it still doesn't disappoint. Well worth a visit.

I was allowed to go on each of the three courses on Friday - i played 19 to 27 first to give a chance for the ladies to clear holes 1 to 18 - they were very slow and still caught them - Friday is Lady Club Members day - so beware
The course however was challenging and i would certainly return but not on a Friday
