We had an excellent stay in the hotel. They have a nice pool. The rooms are very nice (fridge, electric water heater,safe...) the breakfast was very good (variety of fresh fruits was amazing)
An other advantage is that they have a big parking (free to park)

We stayed at this wonderful 5 star hotel located at the Quarteria side of Vilamoura on the sea front at the end of July. The exterior is most appealing, cream rendered walls with lit signage, free secure carpark, drop off area and large water feature.

The vast reception area has a creatively designed vaulted ceiling. The reception staff are very smart, efficient and knowledgable. Apart from checking and out, we needed the assistance on a few occasions, they were very friendly and keen to help.

The rooms have to be one of the most innovative ive stayed in. Polished mahogany flooring, ceiling fan, expensive curtains, creative besoke lighting using natural woodand stone, 32" lcd tv, very comfy beds, mahogany drawers and wardrobe plus wicker and leather balcony chairs.

The bathroom had the wow factor, huge sliding door thst was mirrored on the inside, glass walls, even the wall between bathroom and bedroom. There is an electric blind that can obscure the view for the more reserved guests. But showering with a view over the harbour is something else. The bathroom has granite walls and floors.

The housekeeping is excellent, the whole hotel always looks fresh and clean. Maintanence is carried out with an attention to detail, there is no visible sign of wear and tear. Waiting and kitchen staff are smart, friendly and hard working, i never seen anyone slacking or playing on their phone.

The breakfast buffet is great, everything you could imagine is on offer. English breakfast items are of a decent quality, croissants are light, pain au chocolate fab, extensive range of fresh fruit. The orange juice machine is fantastic, squeezing oranges on demand for each glass. Dining room furniture is high quality and very comfy.

The only problem people have with the hotel is with the allocation if sunbeds. I found that to secure a bed i needed to be by the pool by 7am. After a few late nights and early mornings i was exhusted. It was a but like being conscripted into the army, having to stand by your bed at 6am !!

Due to the insomnia i developed i found myself calculating the number of beds and total number of guests. I found that there are 280 beds and a capacity of over 600 guests. Obviously not everyone wants to sit on a sunbed, but the 2 tier system of pool side beds and garden beds creates a demand frenzy for guests wanting to be by the pool. Ive never experienced this before in a hotel of this calibre. A second pool would solve the problem.

The pool area is well tendered, calm, relaxing, not too busy, the type of families who stay here are respectful and reserved. The speakers are disguised as stones in the flower beds, at first thought that michael buble was hiding in the bushes !!

Another thing that was confusing was that a kettle is provided in the rooms but no cups or tea/coffee. We asked reception, their response was that room service would be happy to supply anything we wanted. Im sure they would......at a price.

Watch out on checkin, official checkin time is 3pm, we arrived at 1pm. We were told that our room was not ready till 3pm, but we can upgrade for €40 per night for a superior room or €70 per night for a junior suite, if we upgraded we could checkin straight away. Innocently i thought it was as simple as our room wasnt ready, but after talking to other guests they had experienced the same pitch. This doas seem to be a hotel maximisation policy !!

Hate to nit pick about what is a very good hotel and i would willingly stay there again.

Sitting here at 10:31, breakfast buffet at the Crowne Plaza can only be described as a hectic, frantic but amazingly smoothly run experience! I feel compelled to write, whilst feasting alone on what's one of the widest range of foods available, even down to a glass of sparkling (for your Buck's Fizz), I guess. With American style pancakes, the freshest and ripest fruits, freshly cooked omelettes, and your standard cold meats hot foods even boiled eggs separated by 3 minutes/5minutes and 7minutes boiled!

There's families here... lots of families, and while my 13yr old sleeps the morning away, all I can observe is a team, possibly of around 25staff running around gracefully, smiling, serving clearing, cleaning and generally keeping this experience a perfect holiday one... and they smile, a lot, the staff, who are certainly keeping this hotels 5 star status alone, are genuinely smiling.... I've seen them turn around 40 tables from mess to perfection, and around again within the 30minutes that I've sat here.
Oh, there was a queue when I came down, out of the doors, it was not an unpleasant wait and considering we were coming into the last 30minutes of breakfast I was seated within 4minutes...

Well done to all the staff.... Keep it up!

Very good hotel but does have its downpoint s. The biggest snag is the sun loungers issue. My partner had to get up before 7 every morning to ensure a lounger which is not great. Also even though there is a kettle in the room there are no cups or tea bags sugar etc , take your own! On the upside you don't need to take towels for the pool because you are given clean ones daily.

The place gives it self as a upperclass luxury place but is nothing more than another masstourism hotel for the middleclass. Superartificial environment, many TVs and a cheap and tasteless interieurdesign concept. The rooms are good, clean, with comfortable beds - but of course totally charmeless. The buffet at night is good and rich. Breakfast by the poolside is good and qiet. Mainly british guests... Do not expect a real 5-Star service! The staff is friendly but not very professional...

We stayed in interconnecting rooms as a family of 4.

sunbeds beside the pool - big issue.
In the time we stayed we were never able to get a sunbed decide the pool. If you have older than toddler children who want to play in the pool and you need to watch them you need to be by the main pool rather than on the beanbags in the garden as you can't watch the pool from there.

I wandered round the pool regularly to try and get a bed. One person told me if we get there for 6.30am we will have the pick of any. Another person said that the people next to them had put towels on at 9 am and returned at 3pm. The pool attendants were well aware of the problem and they say they can remove towels after 2 hrs but how can they tell who has been there or not. While sat at the pool bar we heard other people having the same problem and watched people wandering round the pool unable to get a bed.

We were at the hotel mid July just before peak season.
There were loads of big bean bags on the grass area. However selfish people would pile 4 on top of each other. We were however most of the time able to find a spare beanbag.

what a lovely hotel with a fantastic pool that my 8 yr old loved but the sunbed issue is something we hate and will usually avoid hotels with reviews with sunbed issues. I ignored them on this hotel thinking it would be fine.

The management need a better system and need to have signs saying towels will be removed if left and sunbed reserving is not acceptable. The sad thing is that unless you become the selfish person who hogs a bed before breakfast you do loose out. Very wrong and my pet hate on holiday.

on the good side,
lovely hotel, good rooms (there is an electronic blind if you get a bathroom with a glass wall) comfy beds. Good service. Good breakfast. Excellent location. 10 mind walk to marina and restaurants

We are just back from a holiday with family travelling with 2 children (6 and 7 years old) They had a fantastic time. Pool and playground were fantastic. Everything is very well laid out. Kids had great freedom and could push the boundaries in terms and exploring the hotel while parents could keep an eye on on them discreetly. Because there was two of them we were not relying on the Kids club to entertain them. However, it seemed that there did not seem to be a lot happening in the kids club.

Access to a beautiful beach was very close and great provision of showers to clean off sand afterwards. Sea was a lovely temperature and gentle enough so that you can lie on your back and all your cares would disappear.

I know there has been written about the lack of loungers beside the pool. To be fair I think the hotel have done a lot by providing the loungers / bean bags in the grass area between the pool and beach. We were staying in peak time of season so you have to expect that this will be busy. I have never stayed in a place where the pool manage a rigid approach to taking towels from loungers which would cause more grief for them. The pool staff were always on hand to raise umbrellas and search for extra loungers so I found them good. Some people did stockpile a lot of bean bags but life is too short to get caught up with these little issues.

Rooms and facilities were very good. We had a junior suite overlooking the sea and it was lovely. I have no complaints at all. Staff were helpful and left us have the rooms for a couple of extra hours on day of departure which was really helpful.

In general our experience with food was very good. Breakfast was very good. The outdoor restaurant was a nicer location but you probably haven't as much choice compared to the indoor restaurant but I didn't find it an issue and preferred to eat outside. I thought the lunch menu was very good and reasonably priced. We ate most days there and adults and kids had sufficient variety for the week. We ate in the hotel one night from the a la carte menu and it was okay but we weren't tempted to eat there again. In fairness, the location of the hotel means that you are within close access to all other options that the town offers so there is plenty of choice.

I would strongly recommend for families for couples who like the pool and sea while still being close to the centre of town.
