We ate here on the basis of a recommendation left in our apartment. It is set away from the marina behind the Mayflower but surrounded by lots of other restaurants. The warm bread (brought to the table in a fabric bag!) was delicious and the garlic marinated carrots were the best we had during our short trip. We skipped on a starter as we knew we would get the 'flaming sausages'!! Just two little chorizo type sausages brought to the table on a flaming pottery dish - a little gimmicky but the sausage was quite tasty.
We both ordered the filet steak on a stone which came with fried sliced potatoes. We also ordered a tomato salad. The steak was brought to the table by the waiter who cooked the slices on a massive hot stone after asking how you like it. We would have preferred it if we could have cooked the steak ourselves (see separate review of Bar Rio) but the steak was absolutely delicious. It was already sliced quite thinly when brought to the table so cooks quickly, especially as we like it rare. With a bottle of Monte Velho red wine, the bill was around €50 for two. Friendly prompt service.
