We ate here on the basis of a recommendation left in our apartment. It is set away from the marina behind the Mayflower but surrounded by lots of other restaurants. The warm bread (brought to the table in a fabric bag!) was delicious and the garlic marinated carrots were the best we had during our short trip. We skipped on a starter as we knew we would get the 'flaming sausages'!! Just two little chorizo type sausages brought to the table on a flaming pottery dish - a little gimmicky but the sausage was quite tasty.

We both ordered the filet steak on a stone which came with fried sliced potatoes. We also ordered a tomato salad. The steak was brought to the table by the waiter who cooked the slices on a massive hot stone after asking how you like it. We would have preferred it if we could have cooked the steak ourselves (see separate review of Bar Rio) but the steak was absolutely delicious. It was already sliced quite thinly when brought to the table so cooks quickly, especially as we like it rare. With a bottle of Monte Velho red wine, the bill was around €50 for two. Friendly prompt service.

We ate here our last night and wished we had discovered it before. Its nice to eat away from the marina sometimes and we discovered some little jewels this being one. The bread was warm and fresh and a lovely complimentary starter of Portuguese chorizo. The chicken kebab was lovely. I asked for a side of piri piri sauce and that was gorgeous. . Hot and garlicy! My partner had swordfish and said it was lovely. We had a full bodied fruity red wine that was gorgeous. Total bill was 38 euros with wine. Dont be afraid to ask for a nice bottle of wine its not expensive and they will dig you out a good bottle.

Been to Vilamoura many times and eaten at the restaurants either side of A broa many times but for some reason never eaten here. So we gave it a go and was not disappointed, the only annoyance for us was the pushy 'salesman' following us into the restaurant, almost put us off going in.

We visited the A Broa on the second night of our holiday and are pleased we did, as we were able to compare other restaurants to it.
We were welcomed with the warm bread rolls and carrot/ olive cover, then the free flaming sausage appetiser.
The starters and main courses were all excellent; we tried the Portugese steak, fillet steaks, sardines, lamb stew, chicken and mushrooms and everything was superb.
On our last night, we decided to go to the A Broa again and the meals were once again top notch.
Don't be afraid to eat away from the marina and if you are approached by one of the "salesmen" who are there to get you up to the other restaurants, do not be put off. They will take you there (a 1 or 2 minute walk) and you'll get a free beer, glass of wine or soft drink when you arrive. We are sure you will find better food and better value away from the marina.

Chose this place based on the fact it was rated as the No 6 restaurant in Vilamoura by TA (we ate at Nos 2 and 4 already which were good, and couldn't get into No 3 (O Colonial) as it was shut !.
But i'm afraid that based on our experience it was not very good or Nos7 and beyond are even worse ?
Waiter and waitress were helpful enough but the food was very average, the free sausage-over-flame aperitif/amuse bouche was a nice touch but the starters we had were poor, my fried goats cheese in olive oil was more like warm lumps of mozarella, no sign of frying, bland taste, left most of it. We had lamb casserole and sea bass and prawn kebab as mains, the casserole was plentiful but bland, by kebab was over-cooked and dry and rather too burned i thought.
We decided against deserts but were given a small sorbet then had to wait 30 mins to pay the bill.
Other diners seemed to be enjoying their meals and i got the impression that they had been here many times before, maybe we just had an unusually poor experience,.
