“a little piece of paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Stayed in the Residences at Tivoli and had a great time with the family. Pool is excellent and great for kids. Take the breakfast buffet option and eat late and you can easily skip lunch and have an early dinner. Pool side bar food menu is a little limited if you are staying for long but still good value. Shuttle bus into Vilamoura was always on time and clean but you have to get there early as itt fills up very quickly. Great relaxing 2 weeks in paradise.

Room Tip: stayed in the residences and got a 3 bedroom apartment, great place for the family. Take the buffet...

My wife and I stayed for a week at this hotel at the end of May 2013. Unfortunately this coincided with the English half term break so there were more kids around than we would have liked but this did not affect our enjoyment at all. We flew from Belfast to Faro, picked up our hire car and set off with directions printed off of Google Maps. We avoided the toll road and found the hotel very easily.

The hotel is very impressive on approach: an impressive facade and plenty of space. There's parking above ground, handy for getting the luggage out of the car, and below ground, perfect for keeping the car cool and secure. The main lobby is very lush: marble and polished stone. Very hushed. Well dressed bellboys and reception staff were eager to help us. Even though we'd arrived a little earlier than expected and our room wasn't ready, they took our luggage into the luggage room, took our contact details, put a priority on getting our room turned around, and said they'd phone back when the room was ready. We happily went into Vilamoura and had some lunch -- the room was ready about 45 minutes later. Perfectly timed!

The room itself was also superb. Very spacious - the walk-in wardrobe helps a lot here. The furniture is great quality. The bed is massive and comfy... there's even a pillow menu that my wife sampled on a couple of nights! We stayed on the top floor and looked East towards Vilamoura and the golf course. To be honest, we're glad we didn't get the pool view because we enjoy privacy when in our room. There's a lovely cushioned sofa on the balcony that we could enjoy together without having to worry about who was looking. The rooms were kept very clean but our only complaint here was that the turndown service was quite late in the evening - my wife and I go to bed about 10pm and some nights the maid was still only at the far end of the corridor.

We booked bed and breakfast. Breakfast was buffet style and there was a great range: everything from cold hams, cereals and yoghurts all the way through to cooked foods. As far as buffets go it was very good. Everything was warm and there was plenty of room to move around without having to put up with other people elbowing for room.

We didn't eat in the two restaurants at all. To be honest, they were fairly pricey and the menu suggested the food would be a bit fussy. Given the heat we weren't in the mood for such things and went to the marina every night but one when we took the 20 minute drive to Albufiera.

The pool area was nice and relaxed. The loungers are fantastic! Cushioned black wicker with a good space between each pair. The pool bar staff are always wandering around and willing to take orders for drinks or food. There is nice chilled out music playing from the bar, but if you sit on the far side of the pool it's much quieter if you're not fussed. The pool was VERY cold! I found it hard to relax in but I did find it incredibly refreshing.

The hotel is set on a golf course so you are about a 7 or 8 minute drive from the marina in Vilamoura, which we didn't mind at all. The air was clean and fresh. The ambiance quiet and chilled. And it was nice to be surrounded by all the green grass. The downside of this is that you need to organise yourself if you want to have drinks and snacks in the room. There are a few supermarkets on the main road to the marina, so it's easy to do.

We both took advantage of an offer for the spa. Both of us had a Thai massage in a shared room. The spa is very much worth a trip. Great views from the sun deck and a warm swimming pool. The massages themselves were very, very good... even more so because we got such a good offer.

We would both highly recommend this hotel for its style, chilled out atmosphere, cleanliness, location and friendliness of staff.

Room Tip: The pool view rooms will get a lot of sun but are not as private. For privacy go for top floor on th...

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, moderate food (but perhaps being a chef myself you needn't take this in account). Unfortunately the poolarea was under maintenance so we did experience some hinder here. Faboulous golf courses nearby.

Vilamoura is a real let down. It really feels like a tourist trap and so it is. If you like lots of people and a busy boulevard near the waterfront please go there. The restaurants all offer similar menus no one finds inspiration in the algarve culinary background. Pizzeria's, seafood restaurants and steakhouses. For me this is an articial city built for tourists.

The area furthermore has little history to offer .... And apart from lovely beaches there's not much to suprise you. The vineyards if you're looking for them these you can find up north in the Douro or Alentejo region near Lissabon.

Room Tip: Since there is a lot of wind in this region it would be nice to have some sun on your balcony to enj...

The hotel is far from the city, far from the beach, just a golf course is nearby. We came iat 3 p.m. and had to wait untill four p.m. till the room was ready!! And rooms (197-200) were very far from the lobby, restaurant and conference room. The view from the windov was just to parking place. I did not like staying there.

I am currently at hotel. It is a lovely hotel and the upgraded junior suite is very nice. THE PROBLEM, i upgraded to the suite so I can have a view of the golf course and some greenery. THe room is situation on ground level facing a large wall and directly in front of room is a fence with a tree. I have no view and would not be able to tell that there is a golf course if I didnt already know. Also, the sun never hits the room, so the room is always dark. I can stay in London for that. MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR A ROOM ON AN UPPER FLOOR. We are here for 9 nights and I will be very upset if they don't fix this. Agree with all other comments about needing a car. It is far from beach and things to do. Breakfast and Emmos is very good.

Room Tip: make sure you request upper floor.

This is a very good hotel. Reading previous reviews it seems that the hotel had some teething troubles; these have now been ironed out. The service was friendly and efficient. I suppose my only gripe would be that the evening buffet was nothing special, lacked any atmosphere and was not cheap for the food available. We ate out on every other night that we were there and enjoyed the atmosphere of the marina area. Our room was spacious and clean with a good sized balcony with a comfortable bed/chair arrangement for soaking up the last rays of the sun. I am also told that the spa was something special. A good choice of Hotel for us.

Top class apartments which are really well kitted out and spotlessly clean. We were upgraded to a three bed and they are massive with all bedrooms very big with flat screen TV's in each. All en suite.

Go for a ground floor apartment facing the pool if you can. You walk out from your terrace to the pool. Superb.

If you have young kids it has great facilities with a kids club and kiddies pool, playground and larger pool. Even in June our lad made friends which was great as we were worried there would not be many kids around. Thankfully there were.

Incredibly relaxing place really. Only gripes I wound have is (1)out of town location; It's 4k to villamoura and nothing in between not a shop, nothing(2) only eating option in apartments is pool bar which has a very limited range of food and closes at 6.30 for food. A real pain. Not much in hotel so you either need to self cater or take car or bus into town. Here I think you need a car.

Overall excellent and of they just served more food options and stayed open later it would be perfect !
