We visited Sesimbra several times, just because of the charm of the surroundings and the people. The atmosphere is different from the Algarve and it is always possible to look after activities, like visiting Lisbon. Last two weeks we spent our time in the Sesimbra Hotel & Spa.
Comparing to the other hotel in which we once stayed (The Sana Sesimbra) The Sesimbra Hotel & Spa is so much better! Though both of them are 4-stars hotels, the Sesimbra Hotel & Spa offers a bigger value: the rooms are large (ca. 30m2), the bathrooms have two handbasins, and things are cleaned well every day. There are no extra costs due for a room with balcony like in the Sana Hotel; all rooms have excellent balconies with seaview! Because the hotel is settled on a spacious square, the balconies offer enough privacy. There is a wide choice for breakfast with, among others, five sorts of juices! The Service is excellent, all employees are very helpful. And of course there always can be mentioned some things that could be better: the bathroom sometimes leaked water to the room, because of a missing element on the bathtub. But that is the only thing we could devise...
Maybe next year, but certainly one time we'll come back. For sure.

We have just returned from a week in the Sesimbra Hotel & Spa. Such a relaxing time. Beautiful big room, gorgeous white linen and towels, free parking, peaceful surroundings. We chose to people watched from our balcony or strolled into the lovely fishing port or relaxed on the beach. The residents are gentle and welcoming. Went into Lisbon for the day but could not wait to get back ' home ' to Sesimbra. Thank you. This was the first time that we ate fish meals all week. Fresh fish is difficult to fault especially with the portuegese recipes.

Very complicated for check in.

The rooms are huge as the wonderful breakfast buffet offer.

The view is perfect. The pool is small but very nice.

The A/C in the business rooms cannot be controled, this is very disturbing. The wifi is free and works fine.

Spent a week there from 6th to 13th September. The hotel is in a great location at the eastern end of the small bay. At the western end is the fishing harbour from where the many local fish and seafood restaurants get their daily supplies.

The room was a good size and from the adequately sized balcony we had a beautiful view of the sea and the beach below the hotel. The only complaint was that the beds were too hard for both my partner and me. Nobody else seems to have mentioned this so perhaps it's just personal taste, but neither of us had a good night's sleep while we were there.

We used the spa which was small but never crowded - likewise the hotel's pool. There is wi-fi access around the pool as well as in designated places. We also got wi-fi on our balcony but inside the room, the connection was with cable.

On the beach there are sunshades reserved for guests of the hotel and there are also beach chairs available free of charge. A nice extra.

Breakfast was good with a variety of cereals, fruits, scrambled, boiled or fried eggs, bacon, local sausages and the usual array of yoghourts, cheeses and cold meats, etc.

There are only 100 rooms so this is not a large hotel and, to be honest, although very clean it needs a facelift in some areas - such as the tiling on infinity wall of the pool.

All in all a very friendly, comfortable and well-situated hotel which we would be happy to return to.

Stayed here during the first week in September. Weather was perfect with sunny days between 25-30*c. The hotel is a modern design right on the seafront with direct access to the beach across a paved area which is reached by a lift. The pool and bar area are compact but were never overcrowded. Probably because the hotel reserves covered seating on the beach for residents so many people alternate between the two. The view from the pool and rooms is superb, south facing onto the Atlantic and the beach below. The room balcony was a lovely place in the evening to watch time go by. The rooms are well appointed and spacious, the bathrooms have touches of luxury and include robes and slippers. There was a wide choice for breakfast such as fruit, cheese, breads, eggs, bacon, juices and tea and coffee. All staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful.

The hotel is a short walk to the narrow cobbled streets of the old fishing town which is dominated by seafood restaurants. The town is popular with Lisboas many of whom have apartments in the many blocks within the town. This is not a chic or upmarket resort, it has a lived in feel to it. It is dominated by Portuguese families enjoying the seaside and seafood and is geared to that market which for me was part of the attraction. As for restaurants, watch what the locals do, the better ones are behind the seafront, are more simply furnished and busy by 8pm and despite what the menu might say will only recommend what's fresh in that day.

Room Tip: I highly recommend the hotel for a relaxing time with a touch of class beside a superb beach and Ses...

We spent a great 10 days here - first time we've stayed at a hotel with our daughter (22 months old) rather than a villa. We didn't know much about Sesimbra but the other reviews have described the hotel well. It is well furnished and decorated, modern throughout. Rooms are large and all manage a decent sea view (even ours at the end). Staff very helpful.

Buffet breakfast is excellent, my waistline is probably the best evidence of this! The bar food menu is uninspiring but is fine for a toasted sandwich.

Spa is great. I don't understand the comments about it being expensive -it is €60-80 for an hour which is pretty standard for a good spa.

Pool is unheated but not a problem given the 30C heat. The beach gets fairly crowded but we always got a decent spot in the reserved area. The seawater is cold! - but you get used to it.

Sesimbra is a fairly small town but just right for us. Seafront has lots of restaurants, cafes and snack bars. Get ready to eat lots of seafood, all very fresh and grilled to order. There are a few supermarkets, bakeries etc. Note that the town doesn't appear to get large numbers of English speaking tourists so language can be a bit hit and miss, although several restaurants do have English menus.
