Restaurant "O Velho e o Mar", in the heart of Sesimbra, right at "marginal", with the all the bay in front of our eyes.
Owned by the owner of "Peixarias Zé Camarão", the well-known fishmonger of Sesimbra, with the higher quality of fish and seafood.
The location is perfect. The restaurant have 3 main areas: one big esplanade outside, sea front: one room near the bar and another room on the first floor.
Have been here for a old friends dinner and it was marvelous. Starting with the “Azeitão cheese” and a fresh beer (“imperial”), we order fresh oysters, barnacles and mussels with “Spanish sauce”.
The oysters were amazing: with black pepper and lemon… wow! Barnacles were good and the mussels… perfect!
After that we ate catfish fillets with “açorda de ovas”. “Açorda de ovas” is a very typical food made with bread and the tinny fish eggs. It was simply the best “açorda” I ate ever!!! We ordered next a filet mignon with French fries.
For desert you can’t miss the flambé icecream pancake called “quente e frio”.
Overall is an excellent restaurant, great food, nice wines and €180 euros for 3 persons! Of course, with very good wines like “Pera Manca white” and others.
