We booked this hotel as we had a late arrival - 6pm - off the Hurtigrute ferry and it is located 100m away. Discussion via email was courteous and informative with information supplied on how to gain entry into reception and where the key would be left. The room was comfortable and clean but the wifi was useless unless you moved to the lobby. Free tea and coffee at reception. We had breakfast included in our price but were told that seeing it was unmanned it was not possible to provide this and we were left a couple of complimentary beers instead. Definitely not what I need first thing in the morning! Ok for a one night stop over but I would possibly shop around for a place that delivers what they claim.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We reserved this hotel and the cancelation policy would not allow us to cancel. We paid $275 per night which was average for the area. We checked into 3 rooms and all 3 rooms had different qualities. Room 1 was double beds with mimimal amenities, room 2 had single beds with a very thin mattress and room 3 had folding beds and a mattress that was 2" thick and covered with stains. The roms all had 1 pillow per bed that was 12" square and as stiff as a board. The hotel had no extras for us. The bathtubs had a movable shower head and the tub had no curtain so the bathroom was totally wet after the shower, with only 2 towels for 2 people it was difficult to both shower every day due to the fact you leave a towel on the ground so you don't slip when you get out of it. We did ask to change 1 of the rooms however when they showed us 3 other rooms to move into they were not cleaned. We have been on vacation thought Germany, Austria, France and Norris Norway for the last month and this hotel is the hotel is the highest we have paid the entire trip for any lodging with this hotel being THE WORST of all. In the USA this would be equal to a motel 6 that needs work. Overall try something else.

Room Tip: I wish I could help you unfortunately camera angles can show that this hotel looks nice from a long...

This nondescript hotel is located on a pier in the Svolvaer Harbor, 1 block from the Hurtigruten and Bodø fast ferry dock, and 2 blocks from the center of town. Being over the water, the only noise is that of seagulls. The basic rooms are clean and the bed comfortable. Windows open. Lacking in the room are the standard amenities such as kleenex, coffee maker (coffee is available in the lobby for Kr. 20,- (about US$3.50 per cup), toiletries, pen/paper. Breakfast is included with the room rate, and is just adequate, with a small selection of hot and cold dishes, which didn't appear to be being replentished. Dinner is not available at the hotel. There is plenty of free parking available. If you want a more upscale property, with restaurant, and closer to the dock and town center, consider the Thon Hotel, a more modern high-rise.

The hotel is located close to the ferry / boat terminal (useful if you arrive from/headed to Bodo or on the Hurtigruten), but about a 5 minutes walk from the centre of town. The location seems to be a quasi-industrial area (though the newest attraction- Magic Ice has opened just behind it), so while the views/atmosphere aren't great, rooms are rather large (by Scandinavian standards) and comfortable with free internet access / free tea &coffee (in the lobby) thrown in.
OK for a short stay in Svolvaer (which is anyway usually a hop off point to /from the mainland - the "true" Lofoten experience is a rorbu stay in a fishing village like A or Henningsvaer) - there's not much to do in this town expect a visit to the Trollfjord. The only "superior" accomodation choice worth checking appears to be the Rica (on a small island across a bridge from town), but it's usually fully booked and relatively more expensive.

Our room was large and clean but had a view of a canal and a factory. It also did not have adequate curtains in the 'Land of the Midnight Sun.' On the other hand, the lobby featured free internet access and coffee or tea all day (not insignificant in a country where a cup of coffee can easily cost $5 or $6). The breakfast was quite good, even by Norwegian standards. The hotel's chinese restaurant is probably best avoided since there are much better places to eat in town for similar prices.

The hotel is located conveniently for people arriving by boat and only a short walk from the center of town. That being said, it is in an 'industrial area' where fish smells are not uncommon.
