“Touristy but well presented”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

The ice sculptures are impressive and well presented in an atmospheric way. It's located right next to the ferry port and obviously relies heavily on tourists visiting while their ferry is docked for a couple of hours.

“Sculptures are a bit "tired"”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We visited Magic Ice in a bit of desperation for something to do in March when lots of places are shut. The idea is good but the sculptures looked as if they had melted a bit and then re frozen. I think it was 150 NOK each and then you can order a drink for when you get inside. The ice glasses were nice enough but we were in and out in about 10minutes. Sorry but wouldn't really recommend it to anyone.

“Not a tourist trap”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I have visited the Magic Ice many many times, together with tourists. It's a great place with really amazing sculptures and you can get lost in the huge warehouse only to end up face to face with, Thor, some fishermen or cute fishies.

The ambient music is pretty nice and the small sip of kråkebær liquor tastes good. I would just advice people to ask the desk in advance if any cruise ship is coming because if it's the case, you might be completely overwhelmed by hundred of tourists. Otherwise, it's a fine attraction.

“Different”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

It's a small exhibition on the pier, it is also a bit expensive, but everything in Norway is. The sculptures are really good and very different, worth a visit. The staff are also very helpful

“A bit of fun”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Magic Ice is basically a large room filled with ice sculptures and an ice bar. You pay around £10 for entrance fee and decide at the beginning what drink you want and pay for that in advance. You then go through to see the sculptures and pick up your drink when it's been made for you. The sculptures are a random assortment of things but some of them are really excellent and striking. I liked the low lighting and the candles dotted around - it's quite atmospheric (but we did have the place to ourselves!). They can provide warm outer gear and gloves if needed. There is a reasonable souvenir shop attached too. It's a bit of fun if you are around Svolvaer.
