“THE STARS AT YOUR FEET”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

A wonder of the genius of one man hand build to follow the movement of the sun and the stars and the planets we know at that time. The oldest university city in the Netherlands.

Reviewed May 13, 2012

The Planetarium is very interesting! When you are done you can go next door and have a cup of coffee or tea and some apple pie.

“Educational: the oldest working Planetarium in the world”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

Mr. Eise Eisinga made this planetarium to educate people and to help them understand that the planest wouldn't colide. In 1774 a bit of panic occured since the common believe was that with the colission of planets, planet earth would seize to exist.

The Planetarium is really clever, beautifully constructed and it's hard to believe Eisinga was a self educated man, not a scientist at work at some university.

The history of is family is also interesting, his life, his works and the history of the house. Definately worth a trip.

“The solar system in the living room”
Reviewed August 27, 2010

Accurate scale model of the solar system. All the planets, stars, sun and moon in the Planetarium move exactly as they do in reality. All driven by a mechanism made of wooden disks with more than 10,000 nails serving as gear teeth. Every visitor receives an explanation in the planetarium room. It's a short visit.
