“Good food, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Being unfamiliar with Indonesian cuisine, we required the help of the young woman behind the counter who was most helpful, taking into consideration our not-too-spicy requests. There were very many choices for rice, noodles, vegetables and meats. A great introduction to Indonesian food.

“A feast of flavour enhancers”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Anak Blitar has a wonderful concept: You can order different deliciously looking Indonesian dishes, snacks and bites that are displayed. The charming older lady (owner?) tells you wonderful stories about the Indonesian cuisine and never falls short on recommendations.

It must be noted that the food is being heated up by a microwave oven, but then again, the prices are more than reasonable and won't pass the 15 Euro mark easily including a can of soft drink or beer.

The food itself tastes about average: a lot of spices and above all, drenched in flavour enhancers (MSG) and salt. It is not uncommon that Asian restaurants including Indonesian ones are using flavour enhancers, but Anak Blitar does use it in excess.

Cheap food in every sense of the word.

“Nice cozy toko restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Great value, excellent food and very friendly owners.
You can choose your dishes out of a display window and the dishes will be heated in a microwave.
But this is excellent food and fast.
