“Best pubfood ever”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Having had to eat in too many rstaurants and bars... This one beats all expectations for pub food. Really good for abusiness lunch or a sunny afternoon on the terrace. Excellent value for money and, normally good service.

“Excellent food, excellent location”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Situated bang in the middle of the Grote Market, this was a great evening. There was plenty of staff and good service. We had fish stew and king prawns in garlic. With drinks it was less than 60 euros. We can recommend it.

“Nice atmosphere, nice food”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hosts in Bergen op Zoom and we weren't disappointed. It was buzzing, whilst neighbouring restaurants were empty, so there was a clue that it was good. My fish stew was gorgeous.
Staff were very helpful. A good night out.

“European-style cafe on picturesque square”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

As the name suggests, this is the largest and most popular cafe on the square. The indoor seating spills well out into the square in classic European-style-cafe fashion, so there's ample room to lounge about, enjoy a beautiful spring day, and pretend you're Hemingway. They have plenty of meats, cheeses, beers, coffees, and teas to accommodate this kind of occupation. In the evenings the menu changes entirely, and the cafe converts into a rather nice restaurant. The interior design evokes the Old World but also incorporates some modernism, like those increasingly ubiquitous suspended tree branches. Someday we will look back on them as the synthetic potted plant of yesteryear. I remain unversed in traditional Dutch cuisine, but here the bland meat and potatoes appear in haute cuisine form. Dishes run around 20 euro at any rate. As the crowds begin to dwindle it's a nice place to sample Dutch beers and shoot the breeze.

“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Friendly staff, old-world surroundings, brilliant food and accommodation. Sit and read the paper over a coffee, hang out with friends and drink beer in the afternoon sun, or have an expensive dinner while enjoying the pells from the local cathedral bell tower
