“A family run hotel in an ideal location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

We stayed at this brother & sister run hotel in hot and humid August period. A welcoming reception but lack of air conditioning or fans in the bedrooms and dining room soon made us feel uncomfortable. Added to that appearance of mosquitoes after dark in the terrace area and bedrooms above the pool area was a worry and not easy sleeping with only half open windows. However, on the 3rd evening we were given a fan on asking. The breakfasts had a selection of cereals, breads, yogurts, cheese, meat slices and fruit squashes that was adequate. Evening meals had a reasonable selection of starters, main course and deserts. Linen change could be more often as ours didn't seem to change for the whole week!

The location of the hotel was good for the Limone resort below with the water front and also convenient catching a coach for the tours of Lake Garda, Venice, Verona etc. A ferry from Limone to Malcesine for Mont Baldo visit was convenient. It is a must to enjoy the cable cars ride and the stunning views of the lake & surrounding mountains.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Limone and Europa Hotel, whose owners were friendly and the dining room staff was pleasant too. The lake views from the hotel were beautiful and the various resorts of Lake Garda something to offer all kinds of holidaymakers.

Room Tip: Higher rooms with a lake view and a balcony.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Europa. The views are spectacular from the lake-facing rooms, the dining room, terrace and pool area. We stayed half board and although the choice at dinner is limited we always found something to enjoy - this is the first time in many years we have not chosen to take at least a few meals away from our hotel. The rooms are basic but are clean and comfortable. The lack of air conditioning was only a concern during a day or two of exceptionally warm weather and the fan we rented cooled the room to an acceptable level.

The owners are friendly and helpful and very willing to share their knowledge of the area to help you plan days out. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful, particularly those who serve in the dining room.

Limone itself is a beautiful village with steep cobbled streets. The most direct route to the lakeside is very steep but there are plenty of gentler routes to be found by criss-crossing up or down the hill. In the evenings we often enjoyed a few drinks at the Cafe de Port, a lovely spot to while away a couple of hours. It's easy to visit other places around the lake. We used the ferry to get between Limone, Malcesine, Torbole and Riva. We also took the bus to Desenzano and Salo - Salo is particular is well worth a visit. Walking routes in and around Limone and Riva are also well laid out and local maps are easy to follow.

The opera at Verona was fabulous but be aware that Limone is the start and end of this trip with numerous stops en route to pick up others - it took a good three hours to get there and we didn't get back till 2.45 am (it would be even later had the opera been longer).

If you intend to ride the cable car up Monte Baldo (well worth it both to cool down and for the spectacular views of the lake) you can buy tickets from the guys who run the ferry from the dock closest to the car park (not the car ferry). This saves you joining a very long queue (approx 1.5 hours when we were there) at Malcesine. As well as the views there are some excellent walks along the mountain ridge or back down to the cable car mid-station.

Room Tip: Request lake view and balcony

This hotel has very helpful owners who will do their best to aid you in any way. It has its own swimming pool and lovely terrace overlooking town. Like many hotels, there was no air-conditioning, but there were fans you could hire for small fee.

It isn't a hotel to go to if you are disabled or in a wheelchair because of its high situation making climbing necessary. This is because of its location on a steep hill. It doesn't have a lift from the ground to the reception and no gentle ramp for wheelchairs just a very steep one with cobbles. Once in the hotel however there is a small lift.

We stayed at the Europa as part of a coach tour of Lake Garda, the room we had was basic but clean and with a stunning view of the lake and mountains, the lack of air conditioning was not really a problem due to being able to leave the balcony door open all night but then you get the traffic noise. The hotel is situated very close to the main part of the town but a walk down a very steep hill, ok if your fit. We stayed on a Bed & Breakfast basis, the breakfast was good for what you get, bread, cereal, cold ham, cheese etc. If we go to Limone again we will probably stay in another hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony and lake view

My partner and I arrived back from a 2 week holiday HB on the 19 June staying here. We did an 'early bird booking' in January, paying £1045 ea. for 2 separate rooms, requesting balcony and lake view. The hotel stated 'no single room supplements, but Thos. Cook said there were no single rooms left,so we had to pay an extra £249.ea. We did not get a balcony or lake view but were given back rooms looking out on to a stone wall with nowhere to hang our wet clothes. The sun was on the rooms from approx.noon until dusk and with no air con.we could'nt sleep. The most annoying thing was that people were arriving on 'late deals' paying half the price we paid and were put in balcony rooms and only paying £49 ea. single supplement. We will not be going back there.Margaret,Lancs.

June 2013. We found this hotel to be mediocre in everything it offered. We stayed bed and breakfast and found the breakfasts dull and uninviting, with limited choice. The rolls were then left out all day, ready for the evening meal! A single boiled egg was an extra 1.50 euros!!! One teabag of an obscure brand was provided per person.
The decor of the whole hotel was 1970s, looking tired and dated. The pool area, although small ( 8 sunloungers ) was pleasant and well maintained. Traffic noise from the main road at the front is intrusive, particuarly from the numerous motorbikes that travel in convoy circling the Lake.
We were both ill at this hotel, with a tummy bug that we felt sure was not food related;( there was a 48hr interval between myself and my partner's symptoms). Other guests had heard of others being ill. The owner was more interested in trying to charge an extra 30 euros to keep a room for an extended few hours on the day of departure ( my partner was still unwell), than the possibility that the hotel could be harbouring a viral outbreak! The Lake, in all its magnificence, did however make the holiday truly memorable.

Room Tip: At the front of the hotel, its best to be on the higher floors. Avoid the end room on the 1st floor...

We stayed at this hotel May 2013. It is a family run hotel brother & sister. They where both very nice. Rooms basic but clean and had all you needed for your holiday. I would recomend to book a room on the front of the hotel overlooking the lake. Also book a balcony. Well worth it, For views and to sit out on. Breakfast was the usual continental. but there was plenty to eat.

We stayed bed & breakfast so we could eat in different places during the evening. I would recomend to do this also. You can eat in this hotel if you want to on a day to day basis. So you have the choice to eat out or not.

Step hills to get onto the prom & front of lake. But only 5mins walk.

Room Tip: front of hotel opposite the lake with a balcony
