“Comfortable hotel with great views”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We booked in for one night through the local tourist office and had a very comfortable stay. We had an easy, interesting walk in to town along the coastal path and found plenty of good choice for restaurants.
Only hitch couldn't get WiFi to work.
The help and advice from the receptionists was excellent.

Myself and my Wife have just returned from a 4 day break to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary at the Hotel Locanda Ruscello. What an experience, the hotel is superbly located and a short 10 minute stroll gets you to the centre of the beautiful town of Limone.

The Hotel is imaculately clean, the staff are all helpful and friendly. We arrived late on the first night and poor Nadia had to get up to come down and let us in. Manuela the owner / manager had flowers in our room for my wife and she was superb in suggesting places to visit and do etc.

We had a junior suite with stunning views from both sets of patio doors and two terraces to sit on. The room was spotless and had everything you need. Breakfast was informal and sufficient to get you started for the day and could be enjoyed inside or outside on the terrace overlooking the lake.

There was nothing about the Hotel, the Staff, the Service, the Room, The Location that we did not like.

We are already planning our next trip.

Room Tip: Make sure you book "Lake View" and if you can book a Junior Suite for that extra room

This is an excellent place to stay in a most outstanding location with beautiful views of the lake. About a 10 minute hilly walk into the town. Do not hesitate to book. We had a wonderful stay in June for 3 nights in a junior suite which we thought was good value for the price we paid on booking.com.

We e-mailed the hotel (as instructed on our booking confirmation) to advise we would arrive around midday and even though check in time was 3pm, they ensured that our suite was ready for us when we arrived. A nice touch.

The suite is a good size, tiled throughout, spotlessly clean and well maintained and decorated. The bedroom area has a firm bed (to our liking), and has a large LCD TV (with Sky channels). The lounge area has a sofa and 2 chairs. A kettle is provided with tea bags and sugar but no coffee. We requested a jug of milk from the bar area for the tea. (A fridge would have been a bonus). The small balcony has great views of the lake. The bathroom is spacious with a shower, nice toiletries and a hairdryer. There is no air-conditioning but a fan is provided in the room.

The buffet breakfast was good with cereals, yoghurt, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, ham, breads, cake and fruit. You do need to be in breakfast early to secure the bacon! There was a jug of coffee as well as a coffee machine for cappuccino & other types of coffee.

The reception is manned only at certain times of the day, so we had to carry the front door & room keys with us at all times. There is free wi-fi but we needed to move around to find the best reception.

An excellent feature was that we could use the swimming pool of the Romantica hotel just down the road. The pool is huge and set within an old lemon terrace, with comfortable loungers and there is also access to the shingle beach on the lake.

We have stayed a numerous locations around Lake Garda and without doubt, Locanda Ruscello is one of the best at very attractive room rates. Highly recommended – in fact we are returning in July which says it all!

Room Tip: Go for the junior suite which is good value.

We can't say enough about Manuela and the staff at Locanda Ruscello.  My wife and I arrived yesterday on our honeymoon, and Manuela had made sure that our room was prepared in advance with some beautiful flowers and a complimentary drink.  The inn is on a lovely spot on the water and a very good deal, but Limone Sul Garda, while beautiful, was much busier and more crowded than what we were hoping for on our honeymoon.  When we told Manuela this morning, she was extremely understanding and even acted like our travel agent in recommending other towns and places to stay on Lake Garda.  In the end, she negotiated a very good rate on our behalf for a lovely spot in the quieter town of Gardone Riviera, and waived our cancellation fee for the remainder of our stay in her hotel.  We have been touched by the kindness of our Italian hosts throughout our honeymoon, but none moreso than Manuela of Locanda Ruscello.

Stayed her for 3 nights with my wife in June 2012. Had a junior suite with a side view to the lake. Room was nice and spacious. Service was quite poor, I had to ask several of the 3 ladies working there to get information on certain things. For example I wanted to find out about the festa populare del lago which I had read about but the lady in the hotel said she didn't know about it. It would have been nice of her to give me the tourist office number at least so I could find out. On another ocassion we came to breakfast (which is quite basic) at 9.30 so not terribly late and asked for scrambled eggs which were there the day before. The lady told us they were out, so I asked for a soft-boiled egg to which I got a blank look. So I went to ask another lady at the reception to find out the Italian word for soft egg. This lady then managed to persuade the other one to make some scrambled eggs for us in the end which were very salty - but why all that trouble to start with? Overall, it's a bit of a problem that only one of the ladies speaks English or German and she is often not there. The other two only speak Italian (come on ladies you work in the tourism industry, not every tourist on lake Garda speaks Italian unfortunately and I even tried with a bit of Italian I remembered and some rusty Spanish) and often look like you bother them when you ask them for something. So i dont know if the ownership changed since the other reviews on here were written but we didn't really see any family taking care of their guests and providing great service. Also I was very surprised that nobody else mentioned the traffic noise coming from the nearby main road into limone that passes right above the hotel - you definitely hear it quite a bit when sitting outside for breakfast or when you have your room window open. Plus point not mentioned before is that you have free access to nearby hotel romantica pool and beach. Wifi access is very patchy in the rooms but ok when you are downstairs near the reception. I would stay here again for 1 night but not more.

We spent a fantastic 6 days at this hotel. The staff, Manuela and Monica, are warm and welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. The location is ideal; 10 minute walk to the centre of Limone along a pretty much car free path from directly outside the hotel to the waterfront, passing a good half dozen restaurants and pizzerias, and a 2 minute stroll to a simple but clean beach. The rooms were marvellous - we took rooms 304 and 305 - spacious, en suite and with balconies overlooking classic Lake Garda vistas. Breakfast was simple but plentiful; bread, ham, eggs, cheese, coffee and juice. The rates are reasonable and my only fear is that the more people find out about this gem - the more difficult it will be to book in future.

Hotel alone is located 5 minutes away from the very nice & smaller beach and it takes approximately 10 minutes to get to the center of Limone.

It is indeed a quiet and relaxing place and there's no night rush around the hotel. If you want to wake up and hear the birds singing in the morning, this is the place for you :)

We stayed in the room 304 (double room) with two balconies and stunning lake & mountain views.

The service is ok, however you have to be aware of the fact, that they do not have the 24x7 reception (what is not a big deal, but it's good to know)

Hotel's manager Manuela is willing to help anytime and she's very welcoming. A little pity is that the girls at the reception/bar do not speak english that well, but it shouldn't be such an issue - if you have Manuela around.

Overall experience is perfect and the northern part of Lago di Garda is wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to spend his/her holidays actively (by the way, bike tours are breathtaking!)
