“Excellent service and location”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

This was the latest of our stays at the LePalme and again it lived up to its excellent standards of value, customer service and quality. As always the hotel has improved its service by completely upgrading the bathrooms, improving the sun terrace and introducing varying speciality dishes on the already great restuarant menu. Despite Thomsons brochure I'm glad to say the traditional waiter service at dinner has been retained with a professional team of servers.

Room Tip: Always pay for a lake view and try for low numbered rooms on floors 1 or 2

Whilst we didn't stay at the Hotel Le Palme we did chose to visit the restaurant on a daily basis during our stay in Limone in May 2013 to enjoy breakfast, the beautiful view that the bar area provided and on more than one occasion an early morning glass of wine whilst overlooking the lake!!

The staff were very friendly, the cappuccinos were perfect and the food was filling without being overpowering. If the hotel is anything like the restaurant I'd certainly stay there!

Absolute enjoyment staying at this hotel, we had room with lake view, full bath room with tub.
Food was excellent and staff welcoming. Sun terrace on 3rd floor is very privat. Boat station next to Hotel, convenient for all types of shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: lake view to see fireworks on the lake

While we only frequented the restaurant rather than the hotel, it must be said that the setting was magnificent. The lunch menu was suprisingly basic for such an up-market establishment, although adequate for our needs and not overly expensive. The staff were however both impatient and rude. I cannot complain too much about this as they were equally rude to Italian and foreigner alike.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Martin the charming hotel receptionist picked us up from the coach park in the little electric powered buggy as the hotel is situated in a pedestrianised area at the edge of the lake. Our room was lovely – decent size with modern bathroom and we were lucky to have balcony with wonderful views overlooking the lake. The hotel is next to the ferry dock (which might bother some) but interesting watching the boats coming in and out and they don’t run early in the day or in the evening. We enjoyed the half board deal there – generous morning buffet with hot and cold food and if you had an early trip out they would prepare it early for you as long as you let them know. For evening dinner we were given a table indoors for the duration overlooking the lake and ducks and swans floated by as you eat dinner – it was delightful. The dinner is 4 course (including optional salad starter) and of decent quality with free wine and 4 choices of starter and main, and help yourself sweet and we were happy with the options.
The staff were friendly and attentive – thanks to Martin & Rosanna on reception and Alina in Dining Room and the guy who gave us a lift to the coach park early one morning when it was raining hard!
Limone is a lovely, pretty relaxing resort and we were glad we chose it. Mainly pedestrianised so no traffic to worry about and lots of nice shops/ bars and lovely churches.
We went on the optional trips to the Dolomites which was nice although worst day weather wise, and to Venice which we enjoyed although long trip from Lake Garda (4 hours including water taxi). We went walking around Limone and took ferry (which takes 20 minutes) across to Malcesine which was nice place to visit. The castle is well worth a visit – a British wedding party were there. The cable car to Monte Baldo long queues and Germans pushing in so we did not bother with that.
Although it was the last week in September and we had some showers generally the weather was warm and sunny.
I would recommend Hotel Le Palme and Limone without reservation and would like to return in the future.

We stayed at Le Palme recently – booked with Crystal. Limone is just a wonderful place to stay and you can explore the North of the Lakes from there very easily.
We had a Lake View Room – No. 212 – two windows facing the lake – with lovely views. (See photos). There was a very big wardrobe with plenty of coat hangers which is always pleasing to find. The bathroom is fantastic and the whole room was cleaned well each day. There is a very well hidden safe – which costs 1 Euro per day. You can also have Wifi for 10 Euros for the week – which was excellent value. There is a fridge in the room – we didn't use the contents but were able to squeeze a couple of bottles of water in it to keep cool. There are no tea and coffee making facilities but we took our travel kettle which was very handy.
The staff are very pleasant – although seemed very busy and never stopped – which often resulted in long waits to be served in the terrace restaurant at lunchtime and no time for any conversation during dinner.
Our dining room table at night was on the terrace – which was fantastic. However, because we were seated beside the paying dining guests, we could see that the service they received was definitely superior to ours. We realise they were paying for their meals – but we too had paid for ours through Crystal. There are several different areas that you can help yourself to food – i.e. salad bar, dessert table and bread tables. On one evening we helped ourselves to bread on the terrace – and were told we shouldn't have the bread from there as it was reserved for the paying diners!
For the first 3 nights we were very disappointed in the main course of the meal as there seemed to be a lack of vegetables. On the 4th night we discovered that there were containers of vegetables by the salad bar – which had never been pointed out to us. We found out that several other guests had not been told about these either. We were a bit disappointed in the lack of Italian food on our menu – there were some in the starter menu, but examples of the dishes on the main courses were pork in sauce, goulash and beef stew – hardly Italian. The dessert table was often very sparse - once a dish was finished it wasn’t replaced. The vegetarian meals seemed very limited – one guest voiced some concern about them during our stay.
Unfortunately there seemed to be a lack of information given in the Hotel – we were not informed about the first floor sitting room or the sun terrace – we were aware of the sun terrace having read reviews on Trip Advisor – but had some difficulty finding it, which was such a shame. There was no information file in the room which gave information about the facilities in the Hotel.
The location of the hotel is great – yes it’s a bit noisy with the ferry at times during the day – but it really didn't bother us and the ferries don’t run after 7pm so the hotel is very peaceful at night. The pool is close by – and very quiet and private.
The location of this hotel is great – step outside and you are instantly close to the shops and restaurants etc. The market is in Limone on a Wednesday – but we found that many items were cheaper in the shops.
I probably wouldn't stay in Le Palme again – certainly not half board – but would possibly consider bed and breakfast.

We stayed for a week having booked through Inghams. The staff were very friendly and helpful right from the start. The location was very convenient for the ferry and the town, and although central we did not have any problems with noise etc at night.

The room was clean, with a lake view and an excellent power shower. The food was good with plenty choice. We would definitely book this hotel again if we were in the area.

Room Tip: Many rooms have lake view.
