Bar dell Orso was once the headquarter for all of us Chianti pilgrims. I have visited the place not only during the summer for last ten years but ocasionaly during the winter as well. Good atmosphere, local people, tourists treated not as intruder but as a vis major... and the food... woow. Local cold cut, solid table vine, samdwiches, solid main courses... Everything appears to be the same this year but only visualy. Pasta becomes dry, chingale in umido miniatur and dry, vine too sweet and cheepish, cake medoicre. Tourists are treated with, till now non existent, unusual coldness... the position of the bar and the fact that it is a genuine italian place which must endure the turist invasion during the summer will allweys keep Bar dell Orso high on the local restaurant scale. But for real, the place is in the crissis of identity and can satisfy only first time visitors. There are really good real italian places around, but without such good geographic position. In March 2018 i was sitting among the locals listening live music inside the bar while outside was torrential rain. The food was way better.
