“Good value for money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2008

We were a family of 2 adults and 2 teens.

The hotel is located in an industrial area, on the second floor. Looks like an office floor that was converted into a hotel.
Be aware that reception is in operation till about 22:00, so do not plan to check in late.

Room was spacious but basic. It has a small kitchenette, but no cutlery.
Breakfast: In the room you will find few ingredients. In the morning they provide in the corridor some additional hot and cold food. You have to collect it by yourself and bring it in your room. As there are no trays, you will need to go to and fro several times.
The family-run restaurant downstairs outside the building is nice.

This hotel is very American and not Italian, and I feel that I can say that since I am an American who has lived in Italy for the past 5 years. It is a totally sterile atmosphere in an ugly little industrial part of Siena and has no local personality at all. However, it is half the price of all the other accomodations in the area and that in itself is remarkable. It is very clean. The first night we could not close the shutters on the glass doors but they let us change rooms without a hassle. It was strange that the one staff member leaves at 9 PM and anyone can enter the hotel at any time during the night with no keys. The free breakfast is actually in the room when you arrive so you don't have to get up and get dressed at a certain time to eat it. The maid service does the dishes for you which is different than most hotels with kitchenettes that I know of. They strongly recommended reserving as far ahead of time as possible, directly with the hotel itself, and you can get a much better deal for high season stays. I would stay here again if budget was an issue.

Last Summer my wife and I really wanted to show our four children Siena. Needless to say, the cost of staying anywhere in the centre was somewhere in the NASA moonshot category. However, this hotel was fantastic! It's main USP is that it is cheap, but it is also clean and funky (lots of modern art on the walls). My kids (age range 10 - 4) loved the roof top pool and the playground outside. I thoroughly recommend the hotel as a base for Siena. Badesse itself is a strange place that I never quite worked out. It is quite small, very modern and appeared to be totally deserted. It seemed to be where the workers of Siena lived, but I'm just guessing. Either way, nothing seemed to be happening outside of the hotel, but this didn't matter because it's a great base for elsewhere. We stayed there for three nights before moving on to the castle at Montegufoni for a week. It meant that we could see Florence and Siena properly. Best holiday I've ever had!!!

I have just returned from my 4-day trip to Tuscany. I booked a 3-night stay at this property for 39 EUR a night. I got a lot for my money. Suite-style room was enormous, especially for European standard, the room was very clean and had all the amenities I needed. The only drawbacks are: the TV is far too small for such a big room and does not have many programs, the stools next to the kitchenette are rather uncomfortable, and the cleaning lady forgets to clean the dusty kitchen vent. Otherwise everything was great! If in Tuscany for a few days I will come again.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in June 2004. It is a really nice hotel, right next to the busstop to Siena (which is about 4 miles away). The rooms are huge, and have stove, microwave, tv and small fridge. There is a restaurant and small supermarket downstairs. The price was amazing. We paid Euro 42 per room per night, through the Bestwestern.com website. Highly recommended. You could stay here and explore most of Tuscany from this hotel as a base, as everything is maximum 40 miles in iether direction. There is also a free parking area, which is great.

I reiterate what has been said before. This is a fabulous stop off point for all the sites - very reasonable with clean, very quiet rooms and a lovely delicatessen/supermarket just below for those lovely simple lunches alfresco. Not much of a pool so therefore perhaps children would be disappointed however we came over for a wedding with our 2 children and they seemed to love the place. Not much from the outside as already stated but lovely inside and very friendly Danish girl on reception (Charlotte) - would go back like a shot but not if I wanted to sunbathe - great as a base.

Would definitely recommend staying here. Clean, comfortable, and quiet.
Inexpensive, and very close to Siena (our favorite spot in Italy). If you have a car, you're there in 10 minutes. They have a resturant and breakfast shop just outside (with good food), and a bank ATM. Rooms had full kitchen so if you're staying for awhile, you can cook some meals.
If you're looking for a spot to explore southern Tuscany, this is a good one.
