“Once in a Lifetime”

My stay at Borgo San Luigi was incredible, and I had an amazing time there. San Luigi is excellently placed, for trips to hill top towns such as San Gimignano and Montepulciano (where Twilight New Moon was filmed) only about 15 minutes away and only 30 minutes away from Florence and Siena which make great excursions. The staff at San Luigi are also one of the kindest and most welcoming I have ever encountered and this made the stay extra special. Also the rooms were extremely clean, traditionally furnished and very comfortable. Finally the facilities were very good from an amazingly clear and big swimming pool, with a extra part perfect for young children to the exhilarating quad biking, which was great fun. Borgo San Luigi is a beautiful once in a lifetime destination that I highly recommend, but find out for yourself...

Spent unfortunately only 1 night at this fantastic location in the middle of the tuscan hills. Rooms are great and rustic giving you the real tuscan feel. Beautiful pool and park to let you relax in total comfort and peace. Nearby you have the beautiful medieval village of Monteriggioni which is a must for anyone visiting this area. Very good service and efficient.

I was here for two nights on a group trip and it was my favorite hotel. Beautiful scenic location, away from the hustle and bustle of the city - an ideal spot. The grounds are fun to explore and the "clubhouse" area with its bar, pool table, roaring fire & sleepy dog was a wonderful place to be on a cold November night!

Room Tip: While all the rooms seemed different - I had a fabulous rooftop porch that gave me a good view of th...

We had hoped to stay in Florence, but were shut out because of a fashion convention. What a lucky happenstance! We pulled up to the entrance, a long driveway flanked by cedar trees, and entered a Tuscan paradise. Gorgeous flowers, wonderful scents, chirping birds, warm hospitality and absolutely charming rooms awaited us. The pool is huge, surrounded by comfy lounge chairs spread under shady trees on the rolling grass. Behind the pool is a restaurant with many couches perfect for a cooling drink on the deck overlooking the pool. Being here feels like you are in a Tuscan novel. The grounds are large and inviting, with tables and chairs scattered about in quiet spots. This is a very relaxing and entrancing place. The only negative was that the air conditioning was pretty weak.

Room Tip: The rooms are all different in size and shape. Some are free-standing and some are in small buildin...

We stayed here for 4 nights for business (and vacation). Our room and terrace overlooked the large central field in the center of the buildings. The grounds are well kept and clean. The plantings were beautiful. Our room was very clean and had a good sized bathroom. The inn is located down a gravel/dirt road off the main road. It is easy to reach, but you may have more trouble if you are arriving after dark. I was impressed by the ever present and friendly manager, who wandered the entire grounds from morning to night making sure that things were going well.

We saw many several families on vacation - there is a nice pool for the kids. The staff certainly work hard to make your stay comfortable!

My only complaint was that the wifi/internet was very intermittent or weak. Several people from our group had trouble getting their laptops to connect. I tried to point this out to the desk staff early on, but they insisted that they had wifi all over the property and it must be my device having a problem.

The food provided for our meeting was "OK" - but I don't know whether this was limited by the budget of the meeting. We did not eat from the normal restaurant menu, which would have been a better, I think. When we weren't attending the meeting, we enjoyed eating at the restaurant Il Pozzo (Monteriggione) which the borgo staff recommended - but make sure you call for reservations.

This borgo is well located between Firenze and Siena - just off the highway. It is a great location for exploring the surrounding hill towns of Monteriggione, San Gimingano, Volterra, etc... I would recommend renting a car for exploring the countryside.

We were here with an Insight Vacations tour for two nights and just loved it. If we had not had so much of Italy that we wanted to see and experience we would have enjoyed staying longer. Getting off paved roads on the way to BSL was intriguing, then pulling up to the cedar lined lane to the resort put smiles everywhere...it's beautiful and epitomizes much of what we had in mind about a romantic, country Tuscan property. We loved the front courtyard with the vintage Mercedes and all the typically old Tuscan architecture and hardscaping. Luggage service was quick and friendly. The steps to our particular room were steep and narrow but added to the charm. If it had been a problem we would have asked for a ground floor room. The room was small, as most Italian rooms seem to be to Americans, but clean and accommodating. The grounds were just beautiful with a quiet countryside encompassing the resort. The breakfasts were enjoyable and bar service was friendly. We would love to return to this beautiful resort someday to relax and use it for a base from which to slow down and explore more Tuscan gems like Borgo San Luigi.

Room Tip: If we were going to stay more than two nights, having a larger, ground-floor room would have been mo...

Hidden on the countryside 10 minutes from Siena, this hotel is the most beautyful place I have ever visited. The hospitality and the service of the staff is superb, and in the authentic and peaceful surroundings we felt relaxed and enjoyed every second of our stay. The food was also excellent! We will highly recommend it, and hopefully we will go back some day!
