“Is there anybody here?”

Apartment clean well kept. Lovely gardens. We stayed 20th October for 7 nights. No parasols as packed away. No restaurant - closed. No bar staff. Fridge and just help yourself. OK free fridge of water beer etc., but we paid full price for not full service.

Hotel in nice spot but felt let down by lack of facilities.

Room Tip: Dont book end of October!

Just back from a week spent in Lindos at the Athena, 2nd time we'd stayed there but we have visited the hotel whilst staying at a nearby place earlier in the year - and wished we'd booked the Athena! Totally friendly, reasonable prices on the drinks and the barfood, (great cooked breakfasts). If you're not the sociable type it's probably not the place for you! Noise at night from the bar will permeate to your room - probably best to stay at the bar! Family run, very clean, great people, already booked for next year, we love it.

Room Tip: Stairs up to the top rooms so any disabled guests should look at a ground floor room.

Just got back from the Athena after 2 weeks there...
A great stay. Staff friendly. Clean and no frills. Theo was a great evening barkeep.
We were able to get free wifi on our patio. It's a low signal but it works.
The plethora of cats can be a pain on the patio when eating. We also slept with the window open, and a small black kitten kept jumping in at night. Minor irritations though.
The only slightly negative thing for us were the beds. A bit hard and lumpy. Apart from that, other reviewers have said it all.
The 'super' market next door doesn't renew stock after 1st week of October, so you need to walk 5 minutes to the other markets on the road for many things.
There's a much better & cheaper selection of groceries and fresh produce in 2 Lindos village markets near 'Billy's Bar'. (Billy's is worth a visit, great guy.)
We found Lindos to be a bit pricey overall, but the locals are great and we had a wonderful time. The rooftop restaurants are not to be missed.
Donkey's are 5eu to the Acropolis and up from Pallas Beach. No donkeys from St Paul's Bay.
Go to the Acropolis early in the day before the tour buses arrive from Rhodes etc. Likewise the village is more pleasant without the visiting hordes.
We found the main beach to be a bit grubby, but Pallas Beach was fantastic. We enjoyed 'Skala' at the far end next to the boat pier. The Maitre'D Vassilli didn't charge us for the sun loungers as we ate and drank there.
The boat trip to Rhodes is worth it at 10eu each. Leaves at 14.45 from Pallas Beach, takes 3 hours and you can catch the last bus back for 5eu each. Just go there and walk on. If you book through your rep, it'll cost more.
I would recommend not going to Lindos during the last 2 weeks of October. Supplies are scarce as many places are closing up already.
We got a late checkout for our 1700 bus ride to the airport for 25eu, which was worth it as it was a very hot day.
We would stay at the Athena again.
(Thomas Cook charged us 170eu for being 10 Kilos overweight for the same cases that we arrived with, nothing added to them. Beware!)

Room Tip: Room 214 has a nice grape trellis blocking the view to the bar, but not the noise, which wasn't...

just got back from the athena, had a wonderful time, the staff very friendly and welcoming. the room was very clean and cleaners came every day. lovely meals at the bar because it was small we got to know the other holiday makers, there was noise from the bar of an evening but didnt bother us. we would highly recommend it. no complaints, will definately go back.

Room Tip: if you are noise sensitive ask for a room away from the pool area

This was our third time here at the Athena and all was well. The staff are incredibly helpful and sociable, and catered for all our needs. Every Sunday there's a get together with a BBQ which all the staff and customers attend which is never a fail. Cleaners attended on a regular basis with clean floors and replacement towels and bed sheets. Food at the bar is very consistent and the pool bar is open early till very late with a wide range of drinks to choose from. The distance down to the main square is a 10 minute downhill walk and 15 minute walk to the beach.

We arrive at 5 o'clock in the morning and was shown to the door by Athena, more than required we expected a key in the door and a note on the reception door. The rooms are clean and basic, anyone who has visited Greece before knows the rooms are not as posh as Spain.

The studio room. Small bathroom with a shower, no bath. Small kitchenette 2 electric rings, fridge, electric kettle, units and a sink. also in the same room is 2 single beds, bedside cabinet, set of 4 drawers a wardrobe (lots of hangers in mine), a chair and TV (only 3 channels no charge). All nice and clean, clean towels and sheets every 2 to 3 days. Balcony was only just big enough for 2 , 2 chairs and a table. Air Con is 50 Euros a week.

The pool. It was cleaned and treated every night, plenty of sun beds most days. NOt all the hotels in Lindos have pools and the guests are encourage to use other hotels, everyone welcome, so if you do intend to stay around the pool all day get up early so you have a choice.

The pool bar. Its very well stocked. they serve food from when it opens til 2.30 in the afternoon. All the food is basic good food nothing to fancy, lots of empty plates. 6.50 Euro for a full English breakfast including hot drink. Drinks rough prices, bottles Strongbow 3.50 E, Mythos 2.50E, Magners 5E. Pint of local beer 3E. Long drinks vodka and coke 4E. Theo works the bar at night and is very entertaining, a bit of a character. He will pour you a shot and you feel oblidged to drink it, free of charge. The bar stays open all day and closes when there is not enough customers, after 11 pm the earliest but may stay open until 5 in the morning. Some guest that had the rooms very close to the bar said the noise had disturbed their sleep but they didn't ask to be moved, I mentioned this to the Thomas Cook rep he said all the people that wanted to move had been with no problems. Some people like something to complain about when it could have been easily rectified. We stayed in room 223 and our sleep was not compromised.

Lindos is absolutely stunning and full of history. It has 2 steep hills the 1st one takes you into the square and the 2nd down to the Beach. You can get a taxi up and down the 1st one to the square. The one to the beach is by foot or donkey. Not a place for people with walking difficulties. The restaurants and bars have roof gardens, the ground floor parts are open so lots of people watching. In between the bars are shops and supermarkets. The beaches are all shallow and mainly sandy, 2 in Lindos and 2 in St Pauls bay, all in walking distance.

Pefkos is the next village down and is flatter and cooler, it has the beach and tarvenas. The bars are more open and child friendly, some have slides, plastic ride ons , tramplines and bouching castles. The Bar Pefkos by night has entertainment on every night at 22.00 but the buses stop at 9 ish, so you have to get a taxi back, which is 8 Euros regardless of what time you get one. the bus is 1.60 Euro.

A visit to Rhodes old town is a must, only 5 Euros each way on a air con bus and takes roughly 80 minutes each way.

We loved the hotel, the whole experience and will return in 5 years. Maybe stay in Pefkos has the nightime entertaintment and the flatter paths were more appealing to us, but Lindos is an amazing place to stay or visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 223, we didn't hear the bar

Just got back from a week relaxing at lindos athena, what ever reviews you have read about this place being dirty and crap ignore. We went with an open mind after reading good and bad reviews. The apartments are spacious and CLEAN. Yes there are ants outside but you get them wherever you go, the staff were all friendly and helpful. The beach of lindos is only about 10 min walk.yes it's down hill but this is lindos we are talking about. The best resteraunt we found was lindos bar and resteraunt at the top of the hill near the bus station. The only faults we had was with Thomas cook as the plane was delayed for 1 hour going and 6 hours coming back. And the rep gives you very basic info.
