“Interesting Visit”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

First off, be prepared to walk about 15-20 minutes or so - uphill. If you can't make the walk uphill, you can pay for a donkey ride up (about 4 euros). On the windy walk uphill along a cobblestoned walkway, you will pass lots of little shops on the way up. Wait to buy anything for when you are walking back down. It takes about 15 minutes walking uphill to get to the bottom of the acropolis. Then it's about 100 more steps to get to the top of the acropolis. This area was built up over several centuries. Quite a bit of it is restored. There are several buildings up here - administrative building with resting rooms, temple to Athena, etc. On the way down, visit some of the little shops. There are lots of them all crammed together. The prices are reasonable and they have all kinds of cool stuff. On a nice day, which it was when I was there, it's a good visit. Just stop and rest a few times on the way up.

“A good climb but what a view”
Reviewed November 29, 2012

The path is steep-ish but manageable. The view from the top is breathtaking.

“Ancient!”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

A must see also, u can climb it on a donkey, but we didn't, felt sorry for the animals. They take very good care of them. If you have somebody to tell you about the history of the castle you find out a lot about it!

“The Greece in Rodhes”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

This is the place where you can find some Greek style in Rodhes. White houses and the acropoly. I suggest to park the car at the second entrance of the city it will be easier to go up tothe acropoly which during summer is really really hit. I had a skin burn while there since it is really windy. Not go there with flip flop instead go with rubber shoes, the floor is really sliding.

But the place is fantastic, the jewel of the island.
You can find also nices handycraft for souvenirs.

“Lindos - Little White & Blue Housed Greek Tourist Trap - A Jewell.”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

When visiting Rhodes, you must take a trip out to Lindos to see the Acropolis of Rhodes. (Lindos) Perched at the top of a beautiful ''Jewell'' of a village teeming with cobbled streets and narrow lanes which are scattered with donkeys and a community dating back to BC. Crowded with tourists, this place is fun and colourful. There is a little Orthodox church right in the middle of all this that dates back to forever with a little woman that sits there all day admonishing tourists for taking photos. Amusing but annoying. Does she ever sleep!!!!!! The path to the top is scattered with impoverished women all trying to sell their embroidered tablecloths. It all adds to the colour. Once at the top the ancient Acropolis is amazing and the views of the coast are spectacular. The ride out to Lindos is colourful but nothing to write home about. It's about 30 kms from the port city and there are a lot of fake ''Cöllossus's'' along the way in tired looking little villages. Like a lot of Greece this place appears to be suffering the financial woes and it is hard to believe that this island is the place of so many legends that we read about as kids. Ullysses, The Gorgon, The Sirens et al!!!! It all seems so very unlikely when you see the ''modern'' Rhodes. I am being harsh but it lacks something, maybe it's the throng of tourists that cram the idyllic little streets of Lindos or the crass commercialism of it all but 4 stars is the best I can do!
