I LOVE LINDOS!
If you want to know that you're in Greece and not in a generic resort then go to Lindos. Beautiful village - the locals love it when you stay in the village and not in the big company hotels. Greek accommodation is basic but good and you're in the hub of the village.
The Village has lots to see - I've been coming here for years and only once had a 'not great' meal - lovely rooftop restaurants with gorgeous views. The locals are lovely and welcoming. Visit the acropolis - it's a good walk to the top - try to keep the use of donkeys to children.
The beaches are beautiful - my particular favourite is St Paul's Bay which is gorgeous - there's a good beach bar where you can buy drinks and snacks and it's pretty reasonable. Try the glass bottomed boat which leaves from this bay - again it's reasonable and it's a fun few hours.
There's a laundrette in the Village and you can leave your clothes there and pick them up later. Car hire is reasonable so if you can - go a trip around the island - there's lots to see. I recommend Rhodes Town (especially the old part) and Prassonisi (where the Mediterranean and Aegean seas meet).
If you can go outwith school holiday times, there's usually good flight offers. Enjoy!!
