We have visited Rhodes 5 years running and stay at the Nathalie hotel in Ixia but always find time to visit lindos. Although it is very busy we love the vibe. Lots of great eating places to suit all pockets. Take your camera lovely views from the top. Visit the Rainbow Bar for a drink and snack great PLACE TO CHILL..

Sunbeds and brolly just 5 meters from the warm, crystal clear waters of the bay, with superb views of the castle and beautiful white village surrounding it. There are not many places where it's possible to walk out 50/60 meters in warm, waist / chest high sea water on pristine sand and feel totally relaxed while basking in 35C sunshine - and all for 8 Euros for the day for two ! Surrounded by pleasant reasonably priced tavernas and bars, a first class day is guaranteed especially if combined with a walk to the village ( uphill naturally ! ) and a donkey trip even further to the castle.Quaint streets and olde worldy chic. Fab day out, and completely safe for the kids too.

Went by bus from Rhodes (bus rank just outside the walls of the Old Town). They sell one way tickets only, you buy your return from Krana (bus depot above the Lindos beach area). Couple of stops on the way. Not much to see in the way of scenery, bus travels inland (no coastal road as such) and not much to see. A bit disappointing really. We had been advised we could get a shuttle bus from the Krana bus depot down to the water but did not see any, nor did any of the hot and bothered tourists standing at the stop seem to know where they were or if indeed they existed. We decided to leg it. Bit of a trek down, steepish and a slow walk if you have mobility issues. Or even if you don't. Took us about 30 mins passing puffing and red faced tourists coming back up before we came to the city square and the end of the road. Taxi rank there. Enquiries established if we did not wish to contemplate the walk back up after our swim, taxi back up to the bus stop 4 euros. Wish we had thought of that to go down! You then weave your way through cobbled streets with shops selling lace and trinkets (very packed with tourists) as you head toward the sand, bit of fun watching and listening to laughing, squealing tourists on donkeys heading to the Acropolis. The brave walk. Squeals resulting from the odd donkey who decided to bolt but fortunately restrained by their keepers. The little bay at Lindos has plentiful eateries right on the beach where you can stop for a cool drink or something to eat before you head to your lounge and brolly for 4 euros per person (as elsewhere on Rhodes, you get it for the day if you want). Probably the easiest beach on Rhodes to swim at - sandy bottom - no difficulty stumbling over pebbles to get in and out of the water and the water is clear and refreshing. We spent a couple of hours there taking it all in dreading the thought of having to trek back up to the square to catch a taxi to the bus stop. Then we noticed the boats at an adjoining jetty - short walk across flat (but hot) sand, to our delight there were seats available for the return journey. Knowing now about the lack of scenery by bus and the trek down to the sand, we should have done the water trip both ways. Regardless, we bought our tickets. It was an equivalent cost to paying for a taxi back up to the taxi rank and then a bus to return to Rhodes. Probably took a bit longer going home, the boat stopped en route to allow those interested to have a swim off the boat, but with the cool sea breeze (it was a very hot day) and the view of the coastline from the boat itself, well worth it. You could, of course, buy ice creams or nibblies or cool drinks on board. Worth visiting, if you are in our age group and take the easier transport option - i.e. both ways by water.
