Jaca is a fascinating town in the Spanish Pyrenees with a great castle. It also has a 'restaurant row' of good value places to eat, packed with locals after the evening paseo.
Biarritz offers a wide range of Spanish favourites in its amazing 12 euro three course menu. I chose local bean stew (much tastier than it sounds), meatballs and 'flan' - Spanish creme caramel - and got chatting with my neighbours. The meal also included a carafe of wine. I asked for a gin and tonic to start and, amusingly, the bottle was plonked on my table, perhaps I should have polished it off? Also on the menu were several authentic grilled meat dishes, chosen by the Spanish customers.
Bouquets to the charming Romanian waitress Aurora who spoke excellent English. A really nice place - would definitely go again.
