“Excellent Alcazar”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

This is a lovely building with loads of history. The gardens are beautiful and cool,so,lovely to sit down. There is so much to see including, The Mosque, Arab baths, and the Old Mill. You can climb the towers and get a fantastic view of the surrounding countryside. The fee for the Alcazar and the Camera Oscura 7 euros which we felt was good value for money. You have to book a time for the Camera and if it's not when you are looking round the Alcazar keep your ticket as you are allowed to go out and come back later.

“Beautiful Alcazar in Jerez”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

The Alcazar is very interesting with beautiful gardens and great views of Jerez from the two towers.
Fascinating baths, the olive press and mill.
We went at 10am, as it was a little bit cooler and quieter.
We also went on a Monday which was free before 12 for everyone.
It did not include the camera obscura though. Think it was only a couple of euros if you wanted to see it?
We picked some figs from the fruit garden and sat in the shade enjoying the ambience.
Good couple of hours well spent.

“Another brilliant Alcazar”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Only 2 or 3 minutes walk from the centre of the city this is an absolute gem. Much smaller than the Alcazar in Sevilla or Cordoba it is still definitely worth a visit for its tranquil gardens and excellent views over the city.

Staff are helpful and spoke excellent English. I only wish that we had more time to see the everything that it had to offer, but we were on a 'tour' and only had a couple of hours of free time.

It is signposted from the clock near the market and main square.

“Best quiet attraction in Jerez”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

We have visited the Alcazar several times over the years. Just a quiet seat in the shady gardens watching the fountains is fantastic - they knew how to cope with 40C temperatures well before air conditioning. The recent work to extend the parts that you can visit are fantastic and the oil mill, well and water cisterns are amazing. From the walls and towers you get long views out to the country and over those Spanish roof tops. All well worth the 5 euros for the best Alcazar we have found in Andalucía.

If you enjoy this - visit the cloisters on the right just at the top of Calle Larga. They have spent 8 years restoring them and you can hardly believe that you are in the middle of a busy city. It seems that EU visitors get in free - ask at the tourist office in Plaza Arenal - they are very helpful.
