“Old fashioned value away from the crowds”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

Great place for a couple of canas away from the crowds. We were given complimentary tapas each of rice with seafood. The service was fine and we enjoyed another tapa from the fairly extensive menu. It's a lovely old place which should be better known.

“DON'T MISS THIS PLACE FOR A GREAT "BACON" ROLL !”
Reviewed October 9, 2011

Stumbled upon this little place at 10.30am heaving with Spanish people (2 mins from central Plaza) everyone ordered the same thing - 1 coffee, glass water and a warm bread roll stuffed full of gorgeous Iberian ham for only 2 euros! We visited the next night expecting the same fantastic food & value but sadly disappointed. Only a few couples in the place and food very average. Clearly it's a Spanish breakfast bar.

“Great for lunch”
Reviewed February 1, 2010

There are plenty of touristy bars for an inexpensive tapas in Jerez, but La Parra Vieja offered a 3 course, typically Andulucian lunch for 6.95 euros, which we couldn't resist when we read the menu. Many of the nearby bars were offering tourist food with chips.

We ate:

Revuelto (scrambled eggs with broad beans),

Pollo : chicken in wine,

fruit, a glass of wine and bread, all included.

Jerez is so small it is easy to find Plaza Esteve, which is not far from where the tourist trains stops. Worth seeking out, I would love to know what the evening meals are like, as we found this on our last day. The staff were friendly and efficient.

The interior of the restaurant is well worth seeing as it is one of the oldest buildings in Jerez..

“When in Jerez eat & relax like the locals!”
Reviewed November 13, 2009

The unassuming La Parra Vieja is a local bar/restaurant. The menu is written up daily & the food is delicious 8.50euros plus wine or beer. I like the sherry FINO (dry) which comes chilled & which you can enjoy with the meal.It helps if you can order the food in Spanish. Do not be afraid to order-all the food is tasty! Dorada fish fillets(bream); pork medallions; chickpeas with spinach & tomato or albodingas with tomato & fritas;mixed fish;fried anchovies etc. Wide choice of starters(4/5) about 5/6 mains & 3 deserts. e.g. crema natal, crema caramel, helados.
We stayed in Jerez two days & my husband had fish soup 2 days running! In the evening you can chill out with drinks & ham.Atmosphere pleasant & relaxed in November!
