Hotel Italia

For the purpose of my review bias, for the last 13 years I have stayed approximately 60-70 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain.

This is my 1st stay at this hotel. Date of stay 24th February 2016

Check in was very welcoming, the staff are lovely and friendly

All area’s including the bedrooms were well kept, tidy and clean.

There is a small free car park in a rear courtyard, space is tight, you leave your keys at the reception and they move your car as required to let other guests in and out.

I arrived on the Wednesday night but the restaurant was closed that evening so I can not review it here.

Breakfast was included in the price. The quality of the breakfast is the traditional Italian continental style breakfast that focuses on cakes and pastries with freshly ordered coffee.

Location, was ideally located for my visit e.g in the center of the town

Check out, was straight forward and hassle free

In summary the hotel scores 7/10 for lovely little hotel with very friendly staff

This Hotel is honestly one of the most disappointing ones I've been for a long time. Photos and descriptions on the Homepage compared to what is offered is a huge difference.
To start from the beginning: If you want to use the parking spaces of the hotel you have to leave your car keys at the reception. This is because they are reparking your car from time to time. There is so little space that they have to do that.
The Staff is friendly but english skills are limited.
The worst part, the room: OLD! The interior must come from the 40s or 50s. You can see, smell and feel it. I really slept very bad (also due to my hight and the bed size).
I can't judge the restaurent as it was closed by the time I've been there.

I honestly can't recommend the Hotel.

First of all, I arrived With no reservation, and they were able to accodate me in a single room for a reasonable price. The receptionist Simeone was very very friendly, answered all my questions and offered some suggestions for what to do in the area. When I told him I didn't have any transportation, he let me use his personal bike for a few hours the next morning. What a great guy! Grazie Simeone!

The room itself was pretty much standard italian - small but funtional. To me, hotel rooms are just a Place to sleep in (as long as they are clean - and it was), so if you're looking for anything extra, you'll probably be dissapointed. The double rooms are probably a bit bigger but I'm not sure.

The best part about the stay was the restaurant upstairs. It's an "osteria" style restaurant serving home style meals from the region. It's the kind of Place where there are no menues or prices... the waiter just tells you what they have and what he recommends, and off we go. The meal turned out to be simply fantastic - easily the best one I had during my one week stay in Italy. I was a little nervous getting the check, but my fears were unfounded as I was in disbelief how cheap it was.

All in all, I was very pleased With my stay at Hotel Italia. It helps if you speak a little Italian - we are way off the tourist trail here, and the Language may help you get a little extra help and service. Still, I would recommend anyone who travels through this region to stay at this hotel.

The bad: Very dated rooms, you can hear every thing that is going in the room next door (including the occupier using the bathroom), disappointing breakfast.

The good: Decent, traditional restaurant for evening meal, wi-fi works, clean.
