I spent three nights in this 'hotel'. I encourage you to look elsewhere in Montenegro. I can't think of any reason to stay here, let alone visit Plav.

Service: I've traveled enough to know when, as an American, I'm not wanted. I was polite and attempted to communicate at all times... but was met with a cold demeanor and often felt as though I was being nickel and dimed. The night waiter, a lanky mustached man, has a personality better suited to solitary farm work or maybe as a blacksmith. He was incredibly unpleasant.

Food: The food is the only thing that gets this place a 2nd star. It was fresh and really pretty good. You could tell it was local. I had a fresh egg omelette every morning. The problem with the food is that there is very little on the menu that is actually available. It seemed that every item got a frown and a head shake from the mustached field-hand waiter. The breakfast was included, but any drinks with breakfast were not. Coffee was extra.

Rooms: The rooms are hostel-quality. Old matresses, sand paper towels, ratty blankets. Not much more to say. I wouldn't pay much more than 10 euros a night to sleep in one of these rooms. It cost me over 35. Oh, there are dogs all over the place that bark all night. The waiter and locals hang out in the bar/den area all night and you can hear everything in your room. Terrible sleep.

Bottom line: Don't take the risk like I did. I read the reviews and stayed here anyway. Move on. Kolasin was much nicer of a town. Plav had nothing to offer. The lake was definitely beautiful... but thats about it! By the way, the long dock in all of the photos is sinking... you can't go out on it.

We paid 18 euro for double room including breakfast. This was an exceptionally low price because we were travelling in a group.
The room seems quite fancy at first look, but after few minutes you realize the reality.
The bathroom had a very modern fancy massage shower cabin with several streams of water, light effects and radio. The only design flaw is that: IT NEEDS WATER. As you can guess, there was no water at all.
The lack of water in the shower was however compensated by the water pouring down from the ceiling of the sleeping area when somebody in the upper room was using the shower.
So pay attention where you leave your bags and clothes because they might get water coming from the drain of somebody else's shower,
Pay also attention to your head, as ceiling lamps are hang very low.
On the positive side, the view was unbeatable, with a symphony of frogs during the night.
It deserves a 3 stars just because we had the room very cheap. At normal prices (somewhere around 50 euro), it would deserve 1 star only.

Sorry but it was not so good. Location is wonderful, on shores of Lake Plav. My room was one of the best with nice balcony with lake view,
Bathroom needs serious renovation. Furniture also as well as doors.
Sleeping quality was OK. Food quality also. Breakfast should be more traditional with local food.
Staff in restaurant was nice and friendly on front desk so-so. Not 4 star in my opinion especially compared to other 4 star small hotels in Montenegro.
Extremely loud refrigerator - we had to turn it of to sleep. WiFi didn't work.

Room Tip: ask for a lake wiev

Stayed at Kula Damjanova 2 times - in spring and summer - and it was just unbelievable! You can hardly find a better place for quiet rest in the heart of wild nature with all traditional Montenegrian hospitality. Fresh local food, so full in flavour and taste, wild beauty of surrounding mountains and traditional atmosphere made our stay so wonderful.

We stayed for 2 weeks in Montenegro last summer and arrived in Plav for 2 nights in Kula Damjanova hotel. We expected quite some quality from this hotel which looks nice from the outside and the decoration, and its price, 54 €/pers /night.
First point, the bathroom was a disaster with a real flooding coming every time we would take a shower.
We could then hardly sleep because of a real problem of voicing and a traditional band playing every night until 2 o'clock !
The staff doesn't speak a word of english which, for a big hotel like this, is a bit surprising !
Last point but not the least, my boyfriend got a food intoxication the last day from the food in the restaurant !

The location is simply fantastic. So peaceful. Miser amenities in an old country feel. We has a great opportunity to experience the culture while having comfort. The food was great. I live their coffee. SO REASONABLY PRICED. The location is sooo beautiful, right on the water at the foot of the mountain. You can see animals all around. They were very hospitable. I recommend 100%

But if you are looking for Starbucks and McDonald's, this place is NOT for you.

Pros: The staff were super friendly and very helpful. We had a great room with a balcony and two spacious beds. The decor of the place is great, it has a true rustic feel. There is satellite TV with English channels. The restaurant and bar had a great selection of food and drinks. The hotel is close to Plav but far enough that nights are blissfully quiet. It also has great access to the lake for swimming or fishing.

Cons: The WiFi didn't work at all while we were there and the pillows and mattress had a bit of a musty smell. These are all small complaints for an otherwise great property. I would highly recommend it for the area!

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony or ask for a lakeview room.
