“Elegant and comfortable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2012

We stayed two nights at this lovely Masseria and it was the highlight of our 10 days in Puglia. It is truly elegant, with marble staircases and comfortable and elegant rooms. The owners are friendly and competent in hotel management. Rooms immaculate and food very good. The pool was a lovely treat. I like also that one can walk to the tiny town of Pezze di Greco for a taste of a small village. We were on a bike tour with Southern Visions and the owners were very accommodating of our bicycles and special needs.

We stayed at this venue in Sept 2011 and were so impressed by beauty of the building and it's grounds, the wonderful family that own it, the service and the atmosphere that we decided to get married here in June 2012 and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The photos of this venue do not do it justice, it is truly a stunning authentic place with a welcoming, relaxing and friendly atmosphere. From the beautiful courtyard in the centre (perfect for a party or a wonderful dinner), to the stunning architecture, to the fantastic swimming pool with costal views, it really was perfect. The venue is owned by the most wonderful family; Filippo and Chiara particularly could not have worked harder or been more accommodating to make our wedding day so special. We did also use wedding planners from the UK, but with hindsight I would have avoided this extra cost and gone direct to the venue. Chiara and Filippo were so professional and trustworthy, I would not hesitate to recommend entrusting all wedding preparations to them- they really know how to create a fabulous atmosphere!

Food- The venue organized a BBQ for our friends and family the night before our wedding. The food was amazing, the music was great and they even brought in a bar man who was a professional cocktail maker to entertain the guests. On the day of our wedding the anti-pasti buffet was vast, with an amazing selection of food with seafood, meats, cheeses and even a lady making mozzarella- it was very impressive. The 3 courses of the meal were delicious, the pasta was made from the Masseria’s own farm ingredients and everything was so fresh. The wedding cake was spectacular; a traditional heart shaped Italian cake topped with fruit. They also have a fantastic selection of wine.

Rooms- The rooms in the main building are large and beautifully maintained in a traditional Italian style with a vast balcony overlooking the grounds- a great place to enjoy a glass of prosecco.

Location- Fantastic for exploring some of the main attractions of Puglia such as Ostuni/Alberobello.

This place has all the ingredients for a perfect wedding or if you are visiting for a holiday you will not be disappointed!!! Enjoy!!!!

Room Tip: The rooms in the main building are the most beautiful

My husband and I stayed at Masseria Salamina, for three nights, in April 2012. We initially booked a junior suite; when we arrived, we were upgraded to the largest suite, which was just fabulous. What a treat! The grounds, here, are lovely and very well maintained. How wonderful to be surrounded by hundreds of olive trees, with huge gnarly trunks. Breakfast was included - it was average. We were satisfied, on all fronts, but for one: we decided to have dinner on our second night at the Salamina. The food was not very good - quite dull, in fact. However, the worst thing was that there was a table next to us with three children and three adults. The children were allowed to race around the dining room screaming at the top of their lungs - this went on throughout our entire dinner. Despite my glares, the adults did nothing. Neither did the hotel staff, who clearly saw what was going on. This was our worst meal iduring our two weeks in Italy.

we stayed 2 nights at Masseria Salamina during a week's cycling holiday in Puglia in mid October. There is a lovely swimming pool that sadly had already closed for the season. Also a wonderful courtyard that you can imagine on a v. warm summer's evening eating dinner. The hosts are keen to ensure your stay is comfortable and are understandably proud of their property. The room we had, which was away from the main house, had a kitchenette and lounge area. The lounge area in the main house was very comfortable and a great place to have a drink before a v. enjoyable evening meal. Would definately have on a list of places to revisit or recommend.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2011

We stayed at Masseria Salamina for a week in early September and found it very calm and relaxing with loads of character and atmosphere. The Masseria is a restored 17th century fortified farmhouse/castle set in an olive grove. It's been very sympathetically renovated and features oases of calm inside and out, from shady seating areas on stone terraces to the stunning pool with its ample loungers, sunbeds, sunshades and a helpful pool assistant to put them up for you. Views of the Adriatic in the distance. We had a cool and spacious apartment (with galley kitchen and fridge - very handy) on the first floor at the back of the Masseria with lovely views over the hills behind the property. It was simply furnished but comfortable and also had a large terrace with table and chairs which caught the afternoon and evening sun, perfect for sitting out with an aperitivo before dinner after a hard day at the poolside. Before it was restored the Masseria was called Castello Contessa Cenci - how romantic is that! Breakfasts are good but it's best not to come down too late as the choice can get limited. Around 9 am there's plenty of sliced meats and cheeses, rolls, cakes, pastries and fruit, as well as cereals. The best fruit and most of the meat tends to go first! We ate dinner there one night, in the courtyard, and while it was very atmospheric, the food was just OK, nothing special. But this wasn't a problem because there are loads of good, reasonably priced restaurants and pizzerias in the surrounding villages and towns, and, on the coast at Savelletri and Torre Canne, excellent seafood restaurants.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have views down to the Adriatic in the distance, those at the back look out over...

We stayed two nights during a cycling tour of this region of Italy and couldn't be happier with the accomodations. We had a fantastic room with a private balcony overlooking pool and gardens. We had our own small fridge in the room, and the grounds were amazing. The pool was sparking, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good and on the last morning, when we had to leave early, they even prepared a special early breakfast for us (appreciated but not expected!).
I would highly recommend this place to anyone - a total joy!

My sister-in-law chose to have her wedding here. It truly was a fairytale few days. Highlights: comfy room, palm trees, evening reception at poolside, harpist in the courtyard, gorgeous weather and wonderfully welcoming staff not to mention a scrumptious wedding banquet that kept me full for days! Highly recommend.
