We stopped off here on our way to our villa after landing in Brindisi airport. The restaurant is very unassuming and you have to look to find it.

We were not sure what to expect but heading through the big beaded curtains into a small room. We were then shown out to a lovely courtyart - it was a very sunny day but the courtyard was shady and comfortable.

There is a blackboard menu as you walk in but as none of us noticed that we decided to let the owner decide (ish) for us. We started with some fantastic Puglian white and then the owner came and told us what was available. We ordered 6 anti pasti (seriously massive - ordering one between 2 would have been more sensible) and three different types of pasta between the 6 of us.

The anit pasti arrived - a big plate with a variety of different tasty bites on it - aubergine parmigiano, ricotta cheese, stuffed pepper and courgette, another type of cheese, cured meat and a kind of pearl barley dish - all tasty in their own right - the owner then brough to the table a mushroom flan with a parmesan sauce - gorgeous!

Fully stuffed, none of us were sure how the pasta would go - six plates arrived with three difference types of pasta on - pappadelle with tomato and ricotta, orecchitte with a tomato sauce and "Big Ears" stuffed with augergine and cheese with a sauce. All great!

We finished with some homemade little biscuits and maccaroons - couldnt eat them home so snuffled them out in a sun hat so as not to miss out!

All fabulous and well worth a stop if you are passing through

The sign on the door says simply "Trattoria", so you have to look carefully on your first visit to ensure you have the right address, but inside:

The setting of the restaurant and the decoration and lighting (in the evenings) of the white walls in the small courtyard (cortilleto) created a very favourable impact on arrival.

The friendly service and advice on the menu and wine list continued the good impression.

The anti pastas are a must, but 1 for 2 portions suffice if one intends to go through to pasta and Piatti.

There are some excellent Negroamaro and Nero di Troia reds served in decent grand cru glasses to get the best out of them, ( glasses often lacking elsewhere in the region's restaurants).

The filet steak, mixed grill including very tasty sausages, and the lamb with garlic from the oven were among our best choices on our 2 visits during the week.

For the quality the prices are good value.

The Restaurant was full on both our visits, mainly with locals rather than tourists, which created a great ambience, but book a table if you intend to arrive after 20.00.

Despite being full the service maintained its standard, except that one of the items we ordered did not turn up, a small error easily forgiven for such a great local dining experience.

Staying at the nearby Torre Maizza, we took a short drive to Il Cortoletto and were delighted. We let our server pick our meal and wine, which was excellent, and truly authentic to the region. Highly recommend

After reading Trip advisors review, being in the area we thought we'd check out if the rave reviews for this beautiful little restaurant were true.
The 'courtyard' out back is a cosy, warm and truly inviting place to enjoy the delights that they serve up. The appetisers were in abundance and mouth watering, then we had a ravioli that left me us even hungrier for more, fantastic. Then a main course, well constructed, that you would happily pay double, if not triple for in a Michelin starred restaurant, following that with coffee and Traditional almond biscuits. Faces full !!!
With a carafe of wine to wash it all down and the 'cover' we paid 35Euros.... I'd of been just as happy if we'd paid 60.

Excellent, and the staff were more than happy to help, can't recommend it enough.

We went for lunch to this lovely restaurant. The food is excellent for vegetarians with the best antipasti plate I have overeaten. The pastas too were very good. All the produce is fresh and sourced from their own farm. The wine list is good value for money. Pleasantly surprised and would recommend to anyone who wishes to have authentic Puglian food.
