“Perfect for a relaxing week”
Reviewed June 21, 2014 via mobile

We booked a week at this excellent family run small hotel. It has an elegant reception; welcoming staff; spacious and well appointed accommodation; a comfortable bar/lounge; a pleasant pool area with shade and a large shaded garden leading onto the sea front where there is a board walk to the port area. Food is served on the pool terrace (book with reception to make sure you get an outside table for dinner) or inside. There is a good selection on the breakfast buffet. The dinner menu offers 4 courses each with 2 or 3 interesting choices and an extensive local wine list. On Thursday the hotel has a Sardinian themed evening with entertainment provided by local singers.
The hotel is situated in the centre of this small town with a variety of shops and restaurants and an excellent ice cream parlour almost next to the hotel. There is a market in the Main Street on Mondays. Reception offer several trips - look at the list when you arrive so as not to miss out, as each destination may only run once a week. The train goes from the port to Olbia every couple of hours but if you want to go further afield hire a car.
Staff at the hotel are very friendly and provided good service.
Overall this hotel is excellent value for money.

Our second Hotel on our 10 day holiday, didn't know if we would enjoy as much as Baja Sardinia but we did. Lovely spotless hotel, friendly staff, good food. At first we thought it was going to be dated but as soon as we walked into the modern tastefully decorated reception area we knew we were onto a winner, we were in a junior suite and it was just perfect. Beautiful grounds and fab pool. Would def recommend, Golfo Aranci is quiet but I think that's the norm in many of Sardinias small resorts. TIP: hire a car, this island is absolutely breathtaking. It won't be the last time we are in Sardinia, to bad there are not direct flights from Scotland but it was well worth the effort getting there!

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Excellent in every respect: service, friendly and helpful staff, food. Runs like clockwork. Ideal relaxing break although not much to do in Aranci. Highly recommend. One very minor reservation: the background music in dinning areas not to our taste. Would prefer light classics (Mozart etc).

We stayed at the Villa Margherita at the end of August and I couldn't rate it high enough. Lovely hotel and helpful and friendly staff. We went there with our 4 year old little boy who loved the pool and the gardens are very pretty and really well kept. The croissants at breakfast were really tasty and go very nicely with a cappuccino! Golfo Aranchi itself is really nice, it has a good range of restaurants (our favourite was the pizzeria called Caprisa down by the train crossing, but you should book in peek season as its very popular) and a lovely promenade to walk along. There is an Italian market along the street in the evenings and there is an Italian ice cream shop only a few doors from the hotel which has ice cream to die for!
We spent most days at Porto Retundo beach which is about a 20 minute drive from the hotel but well worth the drive. The sea is crystal clear and you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas for the day . The Magic Beach Bar restaurant which is right on the beach did some of the best pasta I have ever eaten. I would definitely recommend the seafood pasta!
I would really recommend a car to get the most out of Sardinia as there are so many lovely beaches to see. Porto Cervo is worth a morning visit to see how the other half live but unless your loaded I wouldn't stay any longer.
All together we loved our trip and cant wait to hopefully return next year!!!

We spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel and will surely be back. We travel to Italy quite often and I have not encountered great service at this level since a very long time: every single person from the receptionist to the restaurant server to the room cleaner were helful, professional and very polite. Rooms: clean and spacious. Towels are changed daily. I recommend the Thursday 5 course dinner at their restaurant: EUR 35pp, wonderful food and fantastic service with tables set out at the poolside where one can watch the sunset. Since we are don't eat red meat, we opted for the fish version of the menu which was just amazing. The street in front of the hotel is converted into a pedestrian zone from 8pm onwards and market stalls are set up so it was fun stroll after dinner without having to use the car. In a nutshell: we loved this place and cannot wait to return!

Just returned From our honeymoon staying at the wonderful hotel villa margherita. Can't rate this hotel highly enough a top class place to stay in beautiful surroundings. Can't think of one negative thing to say if I had to, Marco and his staff are extremely helpful and go out of there way take care of anything you may need answering any questions. The hotel has a beautiful pool and garden area and had an amazing sea view from our room. One must during your stay I would highly recomend is to experience the Sardinian evening in the hotel restaurant a fabulous five course meal and Sardinian entertainment one of our highlights from our stay at the Hotel villa Margherita.

Staied 5 days in July. Hotel clean and nice. we had superior room with private jacuzzi to enjoy at any time. Hotel very located on the main shopping street (no car at night). Negative point: they should offer a more affordable half/full board.
