“Excellent BnB”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

Stayed here for one night as part of a birthday treat with my boyfriend. The Crown Inn was welcoming, situated in a quaint village. We had room 2 which was HUGE! The bathroom was equally as luxurious with a large shower, with a 'rainfall' shower head. It was a shame I only had the opportunity to use it once! The room was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed. The pillows and duvet were really comfy too (if anything too much so! We went on the hot weekend in March, a 13.5 tog duvet wasn't needed!!)
We didn't eat there as we had been out for the day, but the food being served to other diners did look good.
Breakfast was great - cereal, toast, fry up, orange juice and tea/coffee. Filled us up for a day out exploring.
Staff were all very jolly and happy to help.
Would definitly recommend staying here and will be staying here again if I'm in the area.
Rooms do include a hair dryer!

Room Tip: Room 2 was a huge room with a great shower!

We stayed at the Crown in horsted keynes for 1 night when visiting friends.
The room was a good size and the bathroom was huge and clean, the rooms are done nicely with good quality bed linen. The full English breakfast in the morning was good and the lady serving us was very happy and friendly.

I would stay there again.

We stayed here for one night whilst attending a party at the nearby Ravenswood Hotel. The setting is quite delightful and the room and en suite facilities were extremely spacious. TV, tea and coffee making etc were available and the room was spotlessly clean. There is a locked side entrance for those returning late.

The pub seemed very popular and cricket was being played on the pitch behind the pub which you can watch from the patio. The breakfast was fantastic and no expense spared. The management have obviously read the reviews as we were offered and supplied with fresh fruit juice. The pub is being managed by a new lady (can't remember her name) but there wasn't anything that was too much trouble. Very welcoming.

The village and surrounding area are beautiful and what started out as a Sunday morning stroll through the village ended up in a five mile walk through woods and countryside - with some very helpful directions from locals when we got a bit lost!

One tip: if you are booking a TAXI DO NOT USE ROADRUNNERS. 55 minutes late picking us up from The Crown and then an hour late from The Ravenswood. Thought we were going to be stranded in the middle of nowhere and they didn't care or even apologise.

Stayed here overnight with family over from Australia whilst doing the evening meal on the Bluebell Steam Railway nearby.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish it was longer. Very cosy room with duvet and pillows like clouds (as described by one of my relatives). Smallish rooms, but nicely furnished, ensuite, plenty of cupboard/drawer space and tea/coffee making facilities. Also, a hairdryer is provided. Was welcomed by Julie, who was a very pleasant young lady. She showed us to our rooms and also served breakfast the next day. Lovely full english breakfast. The only thing missing was fresh orange/grapefruit juice, although I am sure they would have provided some had we asked.
We all loved the quaintness of the Crown and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

Room Tip: rooms 3 and 4 have a nice view over the green

I wrore a review some months ago. Since then myself and my family have dined there at least 8 times. It has maintained its high level of cuisine, service and experience. My father who took us for lunch back in October last year said it was the best pub/restaraunt food he had ever tasted (mind you he is from Lincolnshire which may partially explain this). Sundays are especially good as they have a great local pianist. If you want a quality of food, atmosphere and service The Crown has always delivered to us.

We were in the area for a wedding. The rooms were small but did what was necessary. Sadly the building authorities have insisted on a complexity of doors, corridors and exit routes which creates a huge waste of space. Nevertheless it does what you hope for, which is a good pub with good beer and great food in what appears to be an old pub and many of the features are original. It's under a new manager so I suspect that might have helped the offer having read the previous reports. The bedrooms are comfortable; the room we were in was tight and the shower was designed for small people. The Internet worked downstairs but the area in general is not well covered by mobile services. The bar is open plan and prone to attract small people who can sometimes be annoying when you are trying to have quiet pint. A snug on the left segregated from the main room might be good. We enjoyed our two night stay and would definitely stay again

We live in the next village claaed Danehill. We have diverted our occasional family dinner out to the Crown. The food is consistently very good. The value good and the venue is relaxing, well laid out and very friendly. The staff who remain constant are very good.
I would recommend this establishment and long may the excellent expeerience continue.

Pete
