“Good hotel considering it's 2*!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

Can't really see what all the negative fuss is about with this hotel. After reading the reviews and this being our only option with a late booking for a golf break we were considering the worst.

We arrived and were checked straight in and found the rooms to be fine. Big enough with average bathroom, clean towels and sheets so no problem. The 2 rooms we had were on the top floor and that is a bit of a trek up with bags as no lift but no problem. One of the rooms had a balcony which looked down the main street.

Breakfast had a good cold selection which you could make a good meal from and plenty of juices and hot drinks.

The hotel is in the centre of town which is a lot livelier that I expected but that was a good thing for us. As the rooms have no air-conditioning in the summer you will have to have the windows open. This meant the front room suffered a bit at night from noise but the back room was fine.

All in all I had no problem with this hotel and if you are looking for a good value decent golf break that I'd be happy staying here again.

Couple of tips. Parking is free in the town except weekends and bank holidays from 9am to 19.30. You can pay and extra money carries over to the next day.

Le Touquet inself is a great resort with loads of bars, restaurants and a great beach. Just don't expect to return home with much spending money as a large beer is 7 euro's and a steak starts at 20 euro's.

I was reminded to write this, having seen Les Embruns advertised on the French GROUPON site.. as a "special deal" (!!!)

We love Le Touquet and have stayed there many times, and often passed Les Embrun's "shop front" like breakfast room, with its shabby chic fashionably distressed furniture, and thought we must try it out some time.
BOY!! WHAT A SHOCK!!!

On booking in the woman behind the tiny counter didn't speak English, didn't make any attempt to and was apparently (from the sneering laughs & looks they gave) mocking us in French to the cleaner who was sitting beside her. I can get by in French but this was too gutteral for me to catch.
We got the room in the picture, at the end of the pathway, with the patio-doors.
The first thing that hit us was that the room smelt damp! The walls were poorly painted.
There were great gouges in the walls and the skirting board was falling away from the wall inside the door, the plug socket was half hanging out of the wall. The tiny TV was on an IKEA coffee table in the corner right beside the bed and behind that there was a BIG mess of wires! The TV was plugged into what can only be called an UNSAFE plug, hanging off the wall right next to the bed.
I took photos, have posted 3 and have more in case there is ANY dispute regarding this feedback!!

The "wall art" was straight from IKEA. The floor was dirty and the W.C.was basic at best. The shower door didn't close properly and so the bathroom floor was under an inch of water at the end of a shower!!

When we went back immediately to the "frontdesk" to complain and seek another room the woman and cleaner were already gone. There was a number on the door which I called repeatedly but noone answered.

We were woken in the morning by what sounded like a herd of elephants coming through the ceiling - it was the child upstairs running around, and then we were treated to the exciteable sounds of mere et pere having a bit of "ooh la la!" : we may as well have had ring-side seats - there is no sound proofing AT ALLl!!

THANK GOD we only booked one night here!!! WE bailed out as early as possible and ran around the corner to The Hotel Bristol where the reception was warm and the room was lush!

LES EMBRUNS - MORELIKE "LA PIRE"!!!
DON'T BE FOOLED!!! WE WON'T BE... NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!

The pictures don't do the hotel any favours, the hotel has just been done up and it is great value for money. I don't know how anyone can complain about this hotel it is one minute from the town centre and the beach. The staff are friendly, there is great choice for breakfast and nothing even runs out. They just keep refilling every thing. The rooms are quite small in the garden but you dont need them any bigger you dont spend much time in them. It is all you need for a weekend / week away to play golf. It also has wifi which most adverts don't tell you about. You have to pay for parking during the weekends but its not much by the time you get back from golf, otherwise you can just move your car every 60 mins from free parking places to another untill 7pm then its free untill 10am the next morning. Great hotel would stay again alot cheaper than most of the other hotels.

Room Tip: The rooms inside the hotel have been done up to better quality than the ones in the garden but they...

DUMP is about the only word to describe this place..would hardly call it a hotel ! I have never come across staff as rude as in here...I have lived in Le Touquet , we know this town very well and many times have we had to stay in hotels before and after living there but had never tried a small hotel, which we thought might be a friendly and personal experience..It was an experience all right !! Please do not book here you will be VERY upset...

We were on a motorbike and were invited to park in the garden which was very kind. Our room was very small, but clean. The bathroom door was a folding plastic job which didn't always stay closed and we had to hit the toilet to stop it flushing, but we were prepared to forgive those foibles for the price and location (one block from the beach, just down the road from the main blocks of shops and restaurants).

We viewed a number of rooms before the receptionist showed us the garden room. We saw a tiny tiny room on the first floor, which was clean but matchbox-sized. We then saw a room on the second floor which stank of bad drains, followed by a third floor room which was OK but had had smokers in it. The garden room was spacious and clean although the tv aerial was just a loose wire sticking through the wall, the curtain pole bracket had come away at the end and left a hole in the wall, the shower door didn't close so it leaked and so on (there were more holes and flaws). But it was cheap and clean and quiet (except on Saturday 27th when the centre of town was one big party with a loud DJ - that was pretty awful).
The receptionists don't speak English but are helpful. Parking is .7 km along the road to a zone which isn't controlled.

Really convenient location. In the middle of town and close to the beach. We were given a garden room in a courtyard at the back of the hotel which had a large double bed, single bed and sofa - a big room and stylishly decorated. Breakfast room also very attractive and breakfast was an extensive continental selection. We were a group on motorbikes and we were allowed to park in the courtyard which was very convenient.
