My husband chose this restaurant because he felt it looked typically French. When we arrived and looked at the menu there weren't any prices for beer, he asked the patron how much the beer cost only to receive a very abrupt reply as if we had insulted him, the reply was accompanied by a typically French huff from the lady behind the bar!!
We ordered the meal of the day which was veal. I saw the chef digging his hand into what looked like a bowl of dirty water with green slim only to find when our meal arrived that he had been dishing up our portion of the meal of the day. He used his hands to pick up the meat and veg and the green slim was leak!!!
We then discovered out huge mistake: the meal of the day was veal head!!! It included cheek, tongue and brain!!! My husband was heaving as he faced with a whole veal tongue on his plate. I quite enjoy sliced tongue but found looking at the curled up whole tongue quite off-putting. I know that it was our fault that we hadn't realised it was head of veal but the huge flabby cheek and whole brains alonside the complete tongues were not appetising, especially when it was dished up in what looked like dirty dish water.
The patron and what we presume was his wife just stood around waiting for us to finish our meal and made it quite clear they couldn't wait to shut up. They didn't even offer us desert or coffee.
This was our worse experience of a French restaurant in the thirty years we have been travelling to France.
