The website says free breakfast but it costs 13 euro, so disappointed, it is dear anyway at 120 euro a night. The hotel amenities says so, does it need updating?
- Free Wifi
- Free Parking
dear oh dear. Perhaps the rooms were designed for the use of a Red Fox. Certainly normal sized people will struggle. The beds were ok, but the toilet and washing area is something akin to the toilets on an aeroplane.
Ok, I am not small, 6foot and 18stone but I struggled to get into the shower cubicle and when I eventually squeezed myself in, there was not enough room to turn and lather up. Also, the toilet was alongside a hot radiator ,so no leg room was evident unless you wanted a scalded knee.
The continental breakfast was poor with bland cold meats and cheeses.
There are many other Hotels in Le Touquet that are far far better than the tiny, weeny, miniscule Red Fox.
Like so many other reviewers, I found this to be a clean, very centrally located hotel which lives up to the 2* rating. The 2 rooms we had (1 Standard & 1 Comfort) appeared to have been recently decorated. Beds were comfortable, ample hot water, TV receives basic UK channels. On the downside, the decor is very dark. My small but well equipped bathroom was tiled throughout in slate gray and would have benefited from more lighting.
Continental breakfast was of good quality with no shortage of food. The hotel is an obvious favorite with English male golf touring parties.......who appear to be slightly deaf and their loud chatter will make breakfast more, or perhaps less, entertaining!! They seem to head off for the fairway by 0930.
Parking is a challenge in this popular resort. The hotel has an underground car park (21 spaces) a block away- but at a price. On my first attempt to enter, the door would only open halfway. It then closed and refused to budge. The solution...use your pass card to open the small side door to the garage. Then follow the manual operating instructions on the rear of the door. To be fair, it only stuck on me once.
I stayed here as part of a group singing trip so didn't choose the hotel myself. I saw 2* on the itinerary and my heart sank a bit - tragic I know!
Anyway, the rooms were excellent and looked like they had recently been refurbished. There was lots of choice at the buffet continental breakfast so really the only thing 2* about the place was the lack of facilities but we didn't need any so that was fine.
You don't go to Le Touquet to use a gym or swimming pool. You go to wander around the town and this hotel was perfectly place, just a few streets up from the beach and right in the middle of the shopping and restaurant area.
Second time at this central hotel. Very good value and very pleasant staff. Stayed in room 115 this time; it is large with the signature golfing and beach decor in orange and brown (even the voile curtain had a golfer "ghost" print in the centre). The very well appointed ensuite bathroom had his and hers sinks, hot shower and elegant grey slate tiling. Breakfast room looked nicely set up but didn't partake as the local restaurants serve 'til petit dejeuner until midday and 6 euro cheaper.
Apart from the pleasantness of the hotel and staff, a major attraction is that from the hotel you can walk to everything and totter back if the night has worn on!
The Red Fox is a clean well run low cost ( for Le Touquet ) hotel bang smack in the centre of town.
But it is sparse! And barless...So best to spend your time and the money you saved in the many restaurants and bars around the corner.
